Agreed....I would automatically eliminate Trouba, Zib, Panny, Kreider and Fox (not because he isn't capable)....oh wait -- that's our overvalued core.
Fox has been the only guy I’ve wanted as captain for 2 seasons now.. he’s going to be here a long long time and probably our best overall skater . Doesn’t mean he’s going to be a great leader but guess what Trouba ain’t either and he’s dog water compared to fox. Something’s gotta give

Sure they have. I misunderstood you; I meant having a cohesive core and starting to compete (with a few UFA pieces). Or we could tear it all down — and then hope we’re in it in 2030.
I sure hope they tear it down again. But what makes me anxious about the next one is that the organizational heritage still exists, we may never win another lottery again, and just plain old bad luck. I suppose it can't get worse. The results and level of play this year is no different than if they were the ducks: neither is good enough for the playoffs.

How was game 25 of the year, against a non division team that is in last place in the division, a must win game? It's one of the lowest leverage games possible.
In a vacuum it's not. But the Rangers are at a fork in a road at the moment where the rest of the year hangs in the balance. Go too far down the wrong fork and the wheels can fall off in a hurry. They're on that wrong path.

The team lacks leadership on the ice and behind the bench. Too many passengers and nobody willing to go the extra mile. Trouba fought ugly face and thereafter was a disaster. As the Conductor you need to create momentum. Not handbrake the train… that headless chicken running aimlessly manure aka bang the puck to the other team in the defensive zone stuff while everyone stands still is a real killer too.

That play in the third where Laf was coming up the right wing with the puck on a semi 2v1 and just flubbed a pass right into the defender is a snapshot of who he is as a player right now. If Vesey does that I'm OK with it but a guy like Laf who lit up his opponents at every level before this? Sorry, only the Rangers could drain talent like that.

We are the hockey equivalent of Shang-Tsung from Mortal Kombat. Young players arrive here full of hope and talent and then we destroy their souls.

It's a culture. We come from an era of offensive development where there were six teams and you got your spot at 27. It never really went away for us.

If I go by my emotions, Lindgren would be my choice

Truth. I just see how long it took the Oilers, Leafs and Avs to become competitive after they tore everything down, and it’s not a good feeling. Maybe we can find our Stevie Y or Joe Sakic. Clearly the current center alum isn’t a good GM; maybe Richards would be better (he said half jokingly).

It's exaggerated. They are one point behind the Penguins for a wild card spot and three points behind the Islanders for third in the division.

For the good of the team we should probably hope for a loss tomorrow. If they don’t fire gallant after that we’re screwed and it means nothing will happen until end of year so can start unabashedly hoping against hope again.
