The habs had chances when they got the puck off the wall and used the triangle high in the zone to draw defenders closer to the blueline, allowing space towards the net to open up. They can come back in this game, but they need to execute.

Insane that the Habs lead the league in goals from their defense core.

It kind of is insane. But, for a while now we've known the strength of the organization is on the blue line. Matheson, Guhle, and Barron are highly capable of contributing offensively. Lindstrom's got skill. Kovacevic's shot is a pleasant surprise. That's been pretty insane. I look forward to seeing what Struble can contribute.

I don't believe that Hughes ever actually recieved some crazy offer for Anderson last year. I think he was trying to inflate his value in the media like he did with Chiarot and Lehkonen, but if he really did turn down a first then that is going to hurt for a long time. I remember it was rumoured New Jersey and NYI were offering a pick ~15 and I was begging Hughes to do it.
It's more likely there was a conditional first and a similar contract coming back to us or we had to add something significant. There's no team in the league that offers a first for a long term contract of a middle six player without anything else going back.

Pearson was really bad defensively on a few clearing attempts and coverages. Then he gets a partial breakaway and misses the net.

Hopefully he can redeem himself in the next two periods.

Even the jumbotron wants to shit on this team.

I don't understand all the whining and complaining, this team sucks and is young. This should have been expected, losing Dach made it even more so, now with Newhook gone too longterm you all might as well just accept what is.

Try and just focus on Suzuki, Caufield Slaf and the young D and worry about that. Everything else doesn't really matter.

Rebuilds are tough to endure, but ultimately (hopefully) will be worth it.

Just another 5 shot period

I think it was a good period offensively, except for all the missing the net. We had a lot of high danger chances.

The problem with the period was the defensive coverage and all the chances we gave up.

Rebuilds are hard.
It sucks bad because we paid a lot for those parts and dvorak as well. Hawks rebuild is done with 1 draft. We are still trying to fix the mess bergie left, and will be next season as well. This group doesn't need to compound the problem.

Can anyone tell me when the last time we had a clean tic-tac-goal was? I'm drawing blanks.

Indeed because that is what the opposition is doing also. :sarcasm:
