Not a Single King, wants the puck on the PP, just letting the Yotes beat them to every 50/50 puck on the PP.

I am starting to get worried about Doughty.

He has looked pretty average-below all season.

Reminds me of when we accused him of being stuck on his own press clippings after his first norris nomination--looking disinterested. He's being what I accused Karlsson of last year, where he's great most of the time, but uber-inconsistent and good for a blast-worthy goofup every few games. He's dumped a few games worth of those into tonight as well.

Sutter should just put the 4th line out there for the PP.

The Top players don't want to do anything on it, or touch the puck.

Yeah, because it's Quick. Conn Smythe, Olympic starter, Vezina candidate, 2 time Cup winner, $6m cap hit. All kinds of things that Budaj is not. Budaj is a 34 year old, 3rd string, league minimum goalie that had played 1 NHL game since 2014 before this season.

Budaj isn't as good as Quick, so yes, the rest of the team, all those star players, big money guys, they have to help out a little bit more. I'm looking at them more than Budaj. It would be great if Budaj was better, but he's Peter Budaj.

If Toffoli had 10 goals, and Kopitar was a ppg guy, Doughty was winning a Norris, Muzzin wasn't doing whatever he's doing this year, then Budaj is costing the Kings games. 10 regulation losses, 10 goals for. I'm going to look at Kopitar more than Budaj.

And I'm on board with all of that to a degree, but if the rest of the team is performing well but they're being deflated by bad goals (like many of the tie games earlier in the year, since people like to harp on the regulation wins--there were games we dominated but had to go to OT because of Budaj), then it's okay to look at Budaj too. That's all I'm saying. He doesn't get a free pass because of his ability, he's a big part of this team right now and though I'm certainly patting him on the back he's not immune from criticism. Hell people had been railing on the bottom six nonstop and they're probably 'worse' in ability than Budaj...

The opening faceoff to a PP, I doubt I've ever seen a player lose it as often as Kopitar has over the years. He doesn't even try to win it. He might lightly swing at the puck. It's almost every time. Have to then go all the way back to get the puck, then fumble the puck as they try to get it back into the zone, and 30 seconds are gone right off the bat. Then they go offside, and another faceoff, which they win, then dump the puck in, don't get there first, then have to go all the way back to get the puck again. Then the fumble the puck trying to get it back in the zone...

Jesus, Corey Hirsch is brutal. First intermission he says Mike Smith will win the Vezina if he keeps up his play. Than during the second intermission he's saying the Hanzal/Vrbata line has the makings of being one of the best lines in the league.

It's why Stoll got so much PP time as a King. Win draws.

And I won't argue that. Is he immune to criticism? If he was, he wouldn't have been a 34 year old that had played 1 NHL game since 2014 before this season.

If we can't look at sv% to judge Quick, because hey, most goalies are going to let in a couple goals every game no matter how many total shots they face, we're going to essentially put more pressure on Budaj, because he gave up a deflating goal or two(the same way Quick has the last few years on more than one occasion)?

Hell people had been railing on the bottom six nonstop and they're probably 'worse' in ability than Budaj

And this is what I'm saying. We complain more about Dwight King when he has more 5v5 goals than Toffoli. However he got them, he got them. Toffoli hasn't gotten them, and he's looking for a big time contract. Kopitar, 2 goals. The PP, about 12% going into the game, and they haven't helped themselves in any way.

King isn't the problem. He's a role player outproducing most of the rest of the Corsi champ team. Budaj, while no doubt an issue, is nonetheless Peter Budaj. He's not the one that was shutout 3 games in a row.
