They must be the only team in the NHL who has two forwards creeping around the crease at all times. It's why they always move the puck back to the point. Looking for deflections, rebounds, tips. Where is the pass from down low to the slot area?
Exactly this. And then Gallant has the gall to say the current Devils are his ideal style. Screw that guy. That's just insulting. I've been talking about this stuff for ages, since the start of last season, even from the Quinn days. Gallant (along with Drury) has done NOTHING to make the Rangers play modern hockey. The team has in fact regressed.

Good start, crappy ending...

My intermission questions:
1. Why, with modern rinks, zambonis and pauses for ice crapping, so teams still change ends each period? Is it just a holdover from the good old days or does it still serve a purpose?

2. How do stats deal with goalie interference situations; taking our last game as an example. Does Schneider and the Rangers get credited with a shot on goal (it happened before the interference) and if so is the credited witha save even though he didn't save it, or do they just pretend that the whole thing never really happened? And if they just ignore the stats, do they also add a second or two back onto the clock?
Regarding item 1, it's to allow fans sitting on the non-attacking side of the building in the first and third to see their team shoot their way at least once.

Honestly, I didn't think that was a bad period overall. Good and bad, but we're playing a good team. Last year Igor would've kept it 2-0 end of the first.
i agree, can’t really blame him for either goal but he would have found a way to save it last year

I don’t know for me it’s always the goaltending. It’s not where it was a year ago. But I mean not a little off I mean a lot off. We always made a ton of mistakes. And when shesterkin was off it looked a lot like what games 3 and 4 in Pitt looked like more times than not.

Shesterkin just wouldn’t give back this lead like that last year. Gave up 4 in third third now another 2 goal lead. Just wouldn’t happen

And that puts the whole team on edge.
I agreed with everything said here.

But man, we are paying ALOT of money to have a team with Zibanejad, Kreider, Panarin, Trocheck, Goodrow, Trouba and Fox if they're gonna be this fragile that their goalie not playing at Vezina/Hart level they just fold.

Sure, its the goalies fault hes not playing to his usual self, but can't blame him for the teams fragile mindset that causes the collapses after he gives up a goal he usually doens't.

Its adversity and good teams deal with it. We dealt with it last year so not sure what the difference is this year. Perplexing to say the least
