An old fashioned multi player hockey trade is necessary. Move two pieces out bring in two players.
Overall, I didn’t hate their game tonight. Defensively they were very strong. Poured on the shots, including a dozen quality chances.
Who would’ve believed that the guy in charge of some of the worst special teams stats in the league being promoted to head coach would result in them losing a game due to said worst special teams? That was a run on. Deal with it.
Charlie McAvoy is not nearly as good at playing hockey as we have all been lead to believe.
This team has one finisher on it, and he looks like shit this season. Thus, here we are.

How has Lysell not been given a shot. I'm beyond baffled with many things this season but this one takes the case. This team has no offense and there most gifted, top prospect sits in the minors. Geekie on the top line? Frederic still on the team? Marchy is either cooked or still recovering and Pasta gets covered hard. Try something obvious you clowns. Brown, Johnson, Merk, Viel, all before Lysell. Fire management already FFS
Bruins made almost all the running. 5v5 57 shot attempts to 23, 25 shots to 12, 13 high danger chances to 1. Zacha's line had a 9-0 shot count, even the 4th went 5-0. Had the legs, they were getting through the neutral zone and the opposition forecheck quite well. Defense was absolutely solid. Just no finish, and their puck movement isn't dynamic enough. Vancouver did a good job blocking shots and getting sticks in lanes, Lankinen was good, but the Bruins made things too easy for them because they lack the horses and the confidence to pass the puck quickly and creatively, the one true sniper on the team is out of touch, and much as they battled for pucks around the crease, nothing fell their way. The Nucks could sit back and defend the house with confidence once they had the lead.
Boston has the second-worst shooting percentage in the league and it's not hard to see why. The forward group badly needs an injection of true scoring talent. Sweeney is not stupid. He knew the team was going to be limited offensively, but he surely underestimated just how bad it is. Too many players have regressed at the same time, your $11m star isn't playing like it, and the natural ability just isn't there to help guys grind their way out of bad form/luck. I see people shopping McAvoy for forward help but I don't think that's realistic. With Hampus out it's not remotely feasible anyway, but even with him back I don't think the D could wear it. Charlie isn't earning his full contract value at the moment, but he's still too important to this team to give up. Replace him with another capable but cheaper defender then yeah, maybe. But that doesn't solve the forward issue in itself.
My idea would be to package up Zacha with Frederic or Geekie and see what that can get you. Pavel is a generally capable player, decent passing game, versatile, solid at the dot, his contract is reasonable. But he is an otherwise top 6 forward who does not have top 6 shooting ability. That might be ok if the Bruins had enough of it elsewhere, but clearly they don't. I know Pasta likes playing with his fellow Czech, but clearly that's not leading to goals at the moment, so it's not reason enough to keep him. If the Bruins wanted/needed to go in harder you could throw Carlo into the mix as well, but then you would need another 2RD of at least some sort of quality so I'm not sure how much that helps. But yeah, main concept is Zacha+Fred/Geek out, genuine scorer in. Chances are they won't be as rounded a player as Zacha in other areas, but so be it. Have got to change up the mix in the forward group.
Sacco has got the defense back in order. The goalies are doing their job. The PK is not perfect but it's progressing. The players have some intent and zip again, they have a clearer, simpler plan and a will to execute it. Those fundamentals are returning. All that is good, if work in progress. They played well here, and they persevered through most of the full 60 even though they couldn't catch a break. But without scoring it's all not going to take you far. So the ball is in the GM's court to make a move. The players are not blameless but it's Don's offseason mistakes that are most evident. Up to him now to at least begin to try and rectify it.

I don’t know. Lindholm has been much more noticeable lately. The big concern is Pasta . Is Sweeney responsible for Pasta’s game falling off a cliff ? Zadarov has been fine lately also . Very steady . Maybe I’m the only one but I feel both Lindholm and Zadarov will continue to improve .

I’ll never get on board with tanking . I need something to watch . I wouldn’t watch a Bruins team that slides to the bottom. Maybe you are right and they will do that anyway but I saw a lot of good things tonight . They owned the puck in the first period.
The little I have seen of Lysell and Merkulov , neither guy would come in and score much .

I don’t know what kind of return you would get for Zacha & Fred (and/or Geekie) and the other GM’s will see us coming from a long way off. Zacha is snake-bitten at the moment and Fred just seems to be going through the motions. Adding or substituting Geekie does not seem to move the needle much, but I will keep an open mind.
