No problem with the calls on the Kings, I can even accept that the first one could have appeared to be a trip. What I hate is all the non-calls on the Stars infractions. It's ********.

Does anyone really give two ***** about whether Chicago's streak is more important than Miami's? I mean, really, Miami has a basketball team? LOL

Agreed.

I don't follow B Ball at all. Happy that L.A. has two teams and that the Lakers are champions more often than not but where I live we never even hear the word basketball unless it is intentionally brought up to discuss how much money they make or whatever. Nobody that I know sits around talking about the game.

On top of that I agree, why would hockey fans care. If the piece was comparing the Hawks with the Bears undefeated season at least you could see the correlation.

The NBA has many mechanisms in its CBA that permit teams to go over the cap. The NHL doesn't have these benefits.

No one is going over the cap materially because of the draconian luxury tax...it is no longer "1 for 1" but grows exponentially all the way to 4 1/2 to 1. No one is going to commit payroll suicide, hence all the recent salary dumps in basketball.

When the **** did this turn in to a basketball forum? Can we get back to discussing non-***** sports now? Thanks.

That slash the Benn took was a two hander and right in front of the ref. I'm not crying the refs are boning us but there are times when you wonder. At least they refs suck for everyone equally eventually.

No it doesn't, you can go over if you're willing to pay the luxury tax. The lakers, for example, are about $35M over the soft cap and paying heavy luxury tax fees.

They will be dumping salary like crazy when among others Gasol and MWP deals expire.

I honestly don't know what people see in Basketball..

*Shrug*
I think it's fun, but I also played when I was young. I like most sports, really. Even baseball is alright if you go to the stadium, the atmosphere is kinda fun and unique among sports. Obviously it is less physical, but basketball actually bears a slight resemblance to hockey in some regards. It's a quick back-and-forth game, with give-and-go type plays and looking for open shots with quick passing on offense, and trying to keep the other team on the outside when on defense.

I still don't get it. But, thanks for trying.

You guys get rain in LA? I think I was there one time when that happened and everyone freaked out and somehow drove worse... (if thats possible)

I actually think that hockey has a lot more in common with BBall than football. Football has hard hits, but otherwise the flow of the game is much more similar to basketball. Also hockey and basketball play almost the same number of games per season.
