Game 22: Kings vs. Stars - 3/7/13 - Can't Win Them All

Quick just hasn't looked the same all year. A back surgery might do that to you though. There's almost been too much Quick, instead of just the right amount. He seems to be a little too all over the place this year.

The Kings probably should've lost the St.Louis game anyway, so, things tend to even out. The only thing the Kings can't get caught in is a losing streak. Regroup, get back to playing solid defense, and get back to playing well for a full game.

Both Quick and Johnny B looked pretty bad last starts. Deflection or not two five hole when in the butterfly already is bad.

Quick looks like he did when he first came to the league , out of control.

Needs to work with Ranford more.

Both guys will adjust to the defense sucking. It will just take a few more games.

Side note:
You are not going to win hockey games giving up three back door goals. Not going to happen.

Now that last night has settled, I'm at peace. We controlled that game and hockey karma will equal out.

Their first goal was a nice pass after a broken play AFTER a bs call. They capitalized on pretty much EVERY defensive breakdown after that. There's a lesson to be learned there, and I know the team will be better for it. Their best players were opportunistic, and we weren't (SH 2-on-1 Carter/Richards, anyone?), end of story.

You play the hot hand. Bernier had a great game against Calgary earlier in the year and has been the better goaltender as of late.
Other than getting pulled in his last start, you mean...

How about we let the professional NHL coach do his job instead of thinking that we amateurs know better? I know, heresy for this board...

On another note, this also broke the streak of the Kings waking up once I went to sleep. I'm done doing that now :) (OK, it helps that I get home tomorrow and won't be listening to games with a 1045pm start time!)

Eh... I can live with it. Team played meh, and it ended up losing the game. They may have controlled the play but I hope they have learned that even if you dominate, it still only takes a handful of mistakes to bury you. If they can remember that and keep up the overall play for another 50 games, I'm happy.

Sutter has harped on the way their goalies need to control rebounds, so I don't think you can put this all on the defense, especially when Bernier's control is better. Quick looks scrambly and not yet himself even in games where the d has played well.

To the rest of the goalie debate in this thread: I wouldn't put this loss on him, but I also don't think Quick should be immune from criticism. If Sutter asks him to be better, we can too.

Quick's probably going to work his way out of it, but he does have things to work on.

I didn't give Quick a pass. I said he's overcompensating which is leaving him out of position, but I wanted to point out that many of Quick's amazing saves of the past gave up rebounds, but the Kings overall were great about making sure those rebounds didn't bite him in the ass.
