This defence should not be as bad as they are. Most of them are doing a lot worse than years before. They aren't the best in the AHL, but they definitely aren't supposed to be last in the AHL by 11 goals.

Houle is unable to make his D system work.
Yet we sent Xhekaj down so he can better his D skills. What a joke.....

he's a non prospect to me at this point, brings almost nothing but works hard at least. I said last year I thought they should have put him in 3R vs barely playing on the 4th line but the skating, lack of size, strength, speed are all too much for him. Kidney has similar struggles though he's smarter and more skilled.
I think youre being harsh, he still is a hard worker, has soft hands, gets around fine, has pretty good IQ, etc.

I dont disagree. Houle is bad, the roster isnt good though. Utter failure by Hugo

we'll see if Houle can adjust cause the Roy-Trudeau pairing on the 1st PP unit is not working very well. They should put Xhekaj Mailloux there imo.
I've said it every chance I get. Roy is wasted back there. His deft touch is wasted on the point compared to in an around the net. So here's a Guy with a certain skill set which isn't being exploited. He's certainly not the guy you want carrying the puck from your own end. Trudeau is just plain bad this season.

I rarely saw a bad goaltending like this. Im wondering if mann and dobes are ECHL caliber at that point…. This affect the rest of the group without a doubt. I don’t know if anybody here ever played in front of a bad goalie. But, this is painful

Laval's defense has been absolutely putrid this year. Defensive breakdowns all over the place. This is a Houle problem and I'm not sure why he still has a job. He's never been good and is a Bergevin-era knucklehead, which is still worse than a Hugo-era knucklehead. Does the need for "Winning Culture" not apply to Laval?

I agree that this determination is a bit harsh. It certainly is a little premature. I suspect much of the disappointment with this player is a result of the fact that we drafted Mysak in the second round and many here have unrealistic expectations as to what a second round pick can reasonably be expected to develop into. On the other hand, Mysak did made it to the AHL, still has some upside, even if somewhat limited, which is more than you can say about many other second round choices taken over the years.

Hughes has made a mess of our farm system
If the farm is a mess, it's a testament to how bad the drafting has been, especially at the forward position.

But you also need to realize that Barron, Guhle, Harris, Xhekaj (except for this stint) all graduated probably effected the quality of the prospects in the ahl.

Mysak is a career AHLer at this point. There hasn't been much improvement in the last 3 years. It's time to move on.

When you have the worst drafting in the league, you cannot expect anything other than failure.
Our prospects are trash. The sooner people realize it, the better.

Roy was leading the ahl for a time. Farrell was close to a point a game. It’s coaching.

They retooled the veteran group and it hasn't worked but the biggest issue was not bringing in a solid AHL veteran to help take pressure off of Dobes....

Strauss Mann....are you serious ?

The coaching at both levels will need to be addressed. I think Laval is a complete washout and anyone having anything to do with special teams need to be gone. The numbers don't lie we are currently clueless.
