NEWS
- Arber Xhekaj was sent to Laval from Montreal

Laval is on a 7-game losing streak, having picked up only 3 pts ouf a possible 14 in that stretch. They sit last in the division, but sit 5 pts out of a playoff spot at the moment. And if they can beat the Baby Sens in regulation tonight, they would be 3 pts behind (granted Sens have a game in hand and the Comets will have 3 games in hand after tonight). So it's not a lost cause yet, but stringing a few wins together could go a long way and could give them some confidence. We knew the fact they were a real young team full of first and second year pros, that it wouldn't be smooth sailing.

The most disappointing part of the rebuild right now is not the NHL team performance but the AHL team performance. You would expect a good group of prospects to be able to dominate the AHL. Before Price, Patch and Subban came in to help us win in the NHL they all had success in the AHL. Price won the cup in the AHL. Subban's and Patch team went to game 7 of the semis.

2006-2007 AHL champ (Price)
2009-2010 games 7 semis (Subban, Patch, DD)
2010-2011 games 7 semis (Subban, Patch, DD)

Patch, Subban. Price and DD had success in the AHL and it translated in the NHL after that.

The performance of the AHL team is depressing atm specially this year with more prospects added to it. Is it a coaching problem or those guys are not as good as we think they are? We have a couple of prospect there Mailloux, Roy, Farrell, Struble/Xhekaj, Heineman, Dobes, Norlinder, Kidney, Mysak. Outside of Roy's first 10 games nobody really stands out. More will be added next year if it's a coaching problem KH should act.

Most names you listed have flaws as prospects.
team would do better with Primeau as Dobes is struggling.

The problem with Laval isn't the rookies, since Roy and Farrell have been among their best players most nights. Mailloux offensively has shown good things at times but we all knew he was going to have his issues defensively and he has so now we need to see how he adjusts over the season.

Heineman just got back into the lineup. Kidney now that he's moved up off the 4th line has looked better though he looks very much like Mysak last year where he just looks over matched physically and his lack of speed/skating doesn't help.

Dobes struggling is the biggest surprised to me, I thought for sure he would kick ass but it's been the opposite. I do struggle with goalies but with Primeau's struggles in the NHL and now Dobes in the AHL, I may need to take a closer look at getting better at scouting goalies cause i was really high on both.

I like Davidson's play of late, he's playing his best hockey imo but has shown he needs to work on his skating/speed.

I just don't know what to say about Norlinder. I liked how he showed solid progress last year as the season went on, I liked his camp/preseason but in Laval his game took a nosedive as he just played way too passive.

I wasn't overly impressed with Trudeau last year other then the offense really caught me by surprise, I did not agree with Houle taking Norlinder off the PP in favor of guys like Beaudin, Trudeau but when I scouted Simoneau/Trudeau as teammates, I got it wrong as I thought Simoneau was the more impressive one despite his lack of height. Trudeau makes a lot of dumb decisions in his own end but if he can clean it up they could have something there. Of course it will be that much tougher with the crowded blueline.

A sub-plot to be played out. Jackeye facing Crookshank — the latter was out for a whole season further to a Jackeye hit in 2021.

Hoping to see improved defense all around, a Roy goal and good positional play/checks from Arber!

It's taken this coach almost 3 months to pair Mailloux up with an AHL veteran lol.

Unbelievable.

I never got the,

LD -LD
RD-RD

that made no sense to me and I can't think of many times i've seen that.

Condotta wears an A and needs to start delivering more.

yea he's struggled this year, too bad as last year he was one of their better players but it just seems like most guys are struggling this year. They need to start stringing some wins together and if so maybe that could get things started. But makes me wonder if the team stays this bad will they re-sign Houle since it's the last year of his contract.

A week before the season Gorton at least made it sound like it was a done deal but that was 3 months ago and this team should not look this bad defensively, though injuries/call ups have stung but still it's been pretty ugly too many nights.
