1) This team isn't consistent.
2) We need a finisher, too many opportunities sailing wayward.
3) Booth looks incredibly slow.
4) Luongo can no longer move laterally without falling face first into the ice.

This was clear as day this game. Booth did a lot of good work along the boards for his line but he got beat to a loose puck by a defenseman who was trailing him. He hasn't had his old speed since that knee injury.

Lu played an excellent game... until he decided to belly flop. As others have said, his lateral movement has declined and he goes down easily when moving side to side. It would not have been an easy save, but that was an awful play for any goalie. He left half the net open because he couldn't move over.

I don't think our offense was bad at all. We put a lot of quality chances on the net, just didn't have much puck luck.

We should not have kept the Sedins out for an extended shift in overtime. Henrik didn't have the legs to backcheck at the end of it. I also want to point out Daniel's stupidity in trying to make a move along the boards in the defensive zone when he could have simply reversed the puck back to the defenseman to start a clean breakout.

I hate Garrison's backhand. Sooo deliberate.

The team is experienced and well coached. We just arent that good anymore.

Very fair comment. I would agree. I have a lot of hope for this team, given their experience and coaching, if Gillis finds a way to bolster the forward group, and I guess if the Sedins figure out a way to produce against these tough Pacific teams.

What people don't understand is that come the playoffs, the vast majority of offensive talent tends to get nullified by tight checking. So work ethic is what counts.

That's why I have hope this year, the previous years the team had talent but not the same willingness to grind and work.

Really all we have to do is get as many points as we can and squeeze into the playoffs. Since we're in the west any matchup is going to suck for both sides, this regular season stuff is meaningless except for the team to make pressure and grinding a habit.

I thought we had great work effort last year, but were clearly an inferior team tot eh Sharks. Of course if you lose in the playoffs it's always because of heart and character. Chicken/Egg.

you're right, third party intervention is the reason we lost and it's not luck, it's human discretion. how a referee can reasonably make that call is flabbergasting. one awful call can turn the tide of everything, and that's exactly what happened.

you're seriously missing the big picture here

Everyone whining about that call in OT, even H. Sedin himself. Pathetic. That was the right call and refs call that 10/10 times, OT or not.

Why doesn't Sedin blame himself for being on the ice too long where he didn't have enough in the tank to back check?

Shorten your shifts, especially in OT.

Honestly the problem is that they don't call these hooks "10/10 times" they rarely call them and seemingly decide at random when they want to call them. The Sedins especially get to complain about these ticky tacky calls because they very rarely draw these penalties even when they spend the majority of the time hemming the other team in their own zone.

i don't think there's need for a change of line-up - we have guys that can score. this was a tight game by two teams with excellent defence and defensively responsible forwards; both goalies had recently been ushered out in important games, they were going to keep scoring low. what happened was we brought the better game, then threw it away by being lazy as hell in the most important moments.

it was unlucky and frustrating and stupid and it doesn't really mean anything, other than serve as a reminder that yeah, games against good teams will be lost if you take the foot off the pedal before the final whistle's blown.

Not going to lie, I like our team better without Booth on it. I hope we can trade him to some team.

The positives of this game are irrelevant . We lost. After easily deserving to win with a shutout.
Gotta bury the scoring chances when we get them

note that if hertl misses that one shot and the puck rims around and we get the empty netter, we're self-congratulating ourselves on how great luongo was and how tight we are in our own end and how poised we are to beat all the teams that aren't san jose who we're going to face over the next 61 games.

We played a hell of a game except scoring and burying our chances, defensively, our board battles, our work ethic, gap control, were all very impressive and we had plenty of chances, against a top hockey team.

This is not a game people should be drawing conclusions from that were somehow not good.

Let's not be so sure. There's a lot of good teams ahead of Vancouver right now. Out of all those teams, I only see Colorado as a potential team to drop out of the top 8. You can post as many statistics as you'd like, but there's a lot of variables unaccounted for in a full season and of course anything can happen.

And if Colorado drops out the Canucks make the playoffs. If you believe that Colorado is just experiencing a hot streak (and unless you believe that Giguere and Varlamov are the second coming of Hasek you should) you should believe the Canucks will make the playoffs.

who cares about the call

canucks need to start burying there opponents when there up a goal , its not set it stone to win when you have one goal

sucks but the canucks need to start getting some multipoint games , i want to see some 3-4 point games from some of our more important players , torts is doing good with what hes got but gillis needs to get something to help him

and yeah booth ****ing sucks

But it didn't. Instead, the EXACT opposite happens

The Canucks are a very good team. The problem is fans are comparing them to their President's trophy winning years, which is a bar set so high any team will fail to live up to those expectations 95% of the time.

Umm, if we ended up winning this game 1-0, I'd still be questioning our scoring abilities, which are what is really plaguing us for the past 2 seasons

What a terrible way to lose.

How many times have we had 35+ shots and only 1-2 goals to show for it...?
