So after doing some analysis I think I know where things went wrong for games 1 and 2: my sobriety level is too high. Been fighting off something of a cold and it's keeping me from the beer this past week. The home team has been winning when I'm not drinking during the game. This is on me guys, I'll stay off the booze during the game for games 3 and 4, and get back on track for game 5.

tuned out down 3-0. wasn't going to put in more effort than the boys on this one. maybe a little too comfortable with the narrative of the washington series or emotionally deflated from game 1, but that was the least inspired we've looked all year.

Nah, I have little doubt that Petr will be back.

Whether justly or not, he’s going to do what most UFA goalies of any degree of quality typically do and only look at vacancies with very few obstacles to the No. 1 job. After his last two starts, Carolina will offer him anything but a promise of being the starter.

I really feel bad about that Game 2 injury versus the Isles. When he smashed his stick, he knew his rhythm was done.

That’s understandable. It isn’t wrong.

However

This is the playoffs and canes are very deep in the conference finals...

As coach, you gotta pick better decisions to show the team you need them to be Better than that. Who knows. It may or may not canes win this game. It could have wake the up and probably change momentum to come to make a incredible win in a 3 Nothing game..
It isn’t about what Mzraek want..

Canes should be 1-1 in this series.. not 0-2
Do or die . Game 3 and game 4
Mrazek has done a great job. At the end of day , I wish the process on goaltending situation should be different in an aspect to have both goalie play if really want win and go far in final. Mc could have help the situation.

Mc should be given the starts for 3 and 4 in Carolina..
All the fault is on the whole team and special team coach gotta get them to have more shoot first mentality with passes..
They are pressure right on the powerplay with nothing to show in the back of the net.

Powerplay gotta help you win you don’t score on 5 on 5 situations.. it has failed them a lot.

Slavin And Pesce need to be defending against the top lines.. Sometimes Faulk at times..

Canes have better D than that..
Everyone needs to step and play the way
that earn them here with hard work..etc..

This isn’t the time to let the guard down and stop fighting against adversity..

They need to fight, be hungry, level of urgency, better bearing down for their chances , win all battle and not falling to bruins trap game to vulnerability..

Either way they will bounce back..

I didn't get a chance to come in here and write "we win gaem?" because of Mother's Day stuff.

I don't think that would have saved us, though. They had ten good minutes and then the wheels completely fell off.

Burn the tape and just worry about the next one. And if you get a chance to take Marchand's head off cleanly, don't waste it.

I feel confident they'll bounce back in Raleigh.

i've said the same thing all postseason. no panic til we give up that home game.

that being said, I can't imagine the pain/frustration of having to watch this game.

if getting the absolute **** beaten out of you doesn't bring out the inner-warrior then it's time to pack the bags anyway lol.

Go find something to make you smile, brethren and sis...tren(?). We'll get em on Tuesday. #TakeWarning

There were games that got us into the playoffs that we had no business winning and won because of him (away at Colorado, away at Florida)

There were playoff games that we won that he almost won single handedly (game one Islanders)

You dont lose your starting gig for next season by having a shitty 2 road games in your first trip to the ECF.

Let's settle the f*** down

I have never been so grateful I chose spending this mothers day with my mom over this team. Freaking disgusting!

I'm legit SORRY to all of you had to witness that.

Whatever, I mean, this was not a must win. I'd rather be blown the hell out than lose a dagger in OT. I expect to see some amazing hockey on Tuesday. Thank GOD it's Tuesday so we don't have to stew on this so long.

For those of you who had the "pleasure" of watching this: Do you think we should go with Mac for next game? I'm the biggest Mrazek stan out there (see my location lol), but I'm trying to wrap my mind around him letting in 6 goals this game. I didn't see it, so I don't know the context, but dang.
Disgusting huh

Mrázek may be the best goalie we can get, if he’s willing to come back. I’m not seeing anyone available that would start over him.

Either way the guy had a great season. I don’t know if he’s a legit number one, but he’s put himself back on the map.

Two losses for us don’t change anything. Especially when Rod leaves him in, regardless whether or not he wanted to stay. What goalie ever says they want out?

And if he does he'll see the same thing I do.

There's a few teams that are going to have a goaltending slot open this coming offseason. So you narrow it down:
How many have the capability of making a deep playoff run with fairly young cores? That narrows it down to 4, and possibly just 3 depending on just how badly Columbus takes a beating in the UFA period.
Then you look at the situation with the other 2 (Calgary and the Isles) and weight the chances of Lehner being re-signed since he's the likely Vezina winner this year.
Then you look at if which other goalie under contract going forward has the best chance of displacing you in net this coming season: David Rittich or Alex Nedeljkovic (both RFAs).

I don't know about you but I look at the two situations in net, and I say I'm going to take my odds that I can beat out a 23 year old that hasn't been an NHL regular rather than a 26 year old that took over in net for the other team.

True.

Sometimes it best to let other goalie get a start..

Mzraek just can back from injury and he doesn’t seem they same and look to be very nervous than he’s been in a very longtime..

He came back to quick and seem not unflappable in the net..

He needs to heal more.

He’s scrambling in chaos and not quick enough with sometimes being to much out the net..
It good to be aggressive , but he’s too aggressive and to shell of himself..

Mzraek Keep canes in games for very long period of times with more confidence than that..
Maybe it just me. I think teams should learn to lean on both goalies no matter the situation..
He’s human. It just Canes need to try different strategies in the net and other place with players before it goes down hill..
Everyone needs to be better..

Mac should start in game 3 and 4 , imo.
That’s not knocking Mzraek and it should be doing whatever it take to win the finals to get to the next level with being being down 0-2
Team seems to quick as whole after first goal with cocky fans chants..
I don’t want to see canes lose another game especially at home in front of devoted fans..

Not saying you’re wrong, but you’re also not Waddell. They may view him as just a 2-round guy as opposed to a 4-round guy. Regardless, he’s a 20-something free agent goalie who had at least one quality series and has generally good playoff stats. If Carolina doesn’t promise him the No. 1 job, he’ll find someone who will.

You’re overestimating a goalie’s priority to join a winning situation over an easier path to a No. 1 job.

Off the top of my head, Florida, Ottawa, Edmonton and Columbus all have very ambiguous situations in net.
