If I’m the Devils I consider playing Luke Hughes tonight. He can make the first pass out of their end that was sorely lacking on Tuesday. Of course, he becone’s a defensive liability but the Devils were getting nothing out of their third pair on Tuesday.
I tend to think Shesty will get bumped and antagonized a bit more often tonight after whistles and on rebounds . We have to keep our cool and if it happens....put the target directly on Hughes/Nico . Kakko had a perfect chance to stand Hughes up the last game and he passed on the chance .....it likely would have caused WW3 .....so maybe the timing was just not an opportune one with us up by 3? at that time . Rinse and repeat game 1 minus the PP chances and we should be good to go. Go Rangers !

Since the lockout we've been to the playoffs 12 times (of a possible 17) and won 13 total series.

In that time, we've had a 2-0 series lead exactly 3 times. Atlanta in 2007, Devils in 2008, and Tampa Bay in 2022. We kind of have developed a reputation as a franchise that digs a hole and tries to come from behind in a series. Several incidences of overcoming 3-1 and 2-0 deficits.
That is a crazy stat lol.

Gallant is crazy in game, but he is VERY good with the media, very good. He knows what he is doing. He wont give the other team anything to feed off of, he supports and buffers his players, and he will every so often turn a screw on them. I tend to think his handling of the media is one of his top traits as the coach of this team in ny
Quick comment on that......a few years ago Gallant would never get up and speak....he gave a lot of money donations and such and always on one condition that he did not have to get up and speak . He is much more available now . Speaking in public is not easy for everyone . This was told to me today when I was working with a former neighbor of his . He said...." it is really hard to believe how far Turk has come in the public speaking the last few years . "

He also told me another story...Turk and his wife would be out walking around the neighborhood and when he came to my friend 's home.....who flies the Leaf flag......Turk would yell out at him if he was outside.....F **k the Leafs !!! They always had a good chuckle over it .

What is amazing perspective from that comment is that public speaking anxiety is one thing, overcoming that is another thing, overcoming it and being able to tactfully handle the nyc media is something entirely different and impressive!!

fwiw no one wants to commit to hitting hughes hard unless they absolutely know he doesn't know it's coming because he's so slippery it's easy to miss and give him an even better chance at creating something
