Kings seemed to hold court in the 1st, but fell apart in the 2nd. Rally in 3rd came up short. That's essentially the gist of it all. Discuss!

Should we start a, "First Win of the Year" thread?

I'm not ready to throw it all in yet, but I'm very concerned.

Disappointing, but we're still missing some major players in Pearson, Gaborik, and Quick.

We saw what they did with Quick in the lineup. They got Quick out of the lineup.

Thing is, Pearson is the only one coming back anytime soon, so it's pointless to consider Gaborik or Quick until they're closer to returning. So unless Pearson coming back is going to give this team a bigger boost than we can truly expect from him, there's issues for at least this first 30% of the season.

Well I'm just making a point, the team isn't 100%. Who knows, maybe they'll "peak at the right time" according to DL. The question is if they can even keep their head's above water until then...

It's gonna be a long season. I'm thinking it might be smart to review Blue Jackets or Hurricanes boards from the past few seasons to learn the tropes.

The biggest issue might be the middle of the ice in the defensive zone, and giving up goals in bunches. That's been happening for a few years. That was Game 1 and Game 2, probably Game 3, against SJ in 2014.

Healthy players can only help, but there's a team issue where they're no longer as solid in that one area as they used to be. Go back to division on the line, in the last game of the season, at home, against a not great Jets team, with a late 2nd period 3-0 lead, and there's no win at the end of that game. Go back to a last week of the season, must win game in Edmonton, and there's no win at the end of that game.

I'm neither overwhelmed nor underwhelmed by this team. I'm sufficiently whelmed.

Best we can shoot for is a wildcard spot, boys. This was a transitional year from the moment Lucic didn't re-sign. Accept it, let go, and enjoy the mediocrity.

If it's a transitional year then they need to play some of the young guys and see what they have. How much longer are we going to get Greene and Nolan shoved down our throats? See if Mersch can replace King next season. See if Dowd can be the 3C. See if Gravel can be a top 4.

I passed out and missed the third :(

When I woke up I remembered Quickie and got sad, checked the score and saw McNabb potted one so that made me a little happier (still awake when Drew got his). Will read the last 6 or so pages of the GDT tomorrow morning to get an idea of how the third played out.

Goodnight ladies and gents

I legit love this PGT. Gifs, self-deprecating humor, and no expectations. I was hoping we'd get back to the spirit of the pre-2012 years!

I don't believe this team is as bad as they're showing. Sort of like the playoffs last year with our top players being underwhelming and everything that can go wrong going wrong. Still think it's just a slow start and we'll be on the playoff bubble--though it will be interesting to see how 2012 DL goes with a slow start. Do we just see things like Dowd actually entering the lineup, or do we see some nukeage of a guy like Greene?

Between regular season and playoffs, the Kings have played about 20 consecutive games of garbage hockey
