Halak's first win tonight? Phone battery at 41%. It's a sign.

Remember when we beat Tampa in the first game of the season pretty handily and predicted we were going 82-0 or at worst 81-1?

Good times

Same forward line up as the other night against the Krackheads.

Kravscratch to the pressbox.

Zac in for Libor

Igor in net.

I mean, this is just brain dead. Maybe change the lines? Wouldn’t that be something for the coach to do to try and get his (important young) players play better? Instead of keeping them on the same line and benching them bc they aren’t playing well in their minimal ice time while Vesey and Goodrow get tons of top 6 time? This is straight out of the Quinn playbook.

I don't really understand how GG hasn't gone back to the same lines from the 8-2 Red Wings game.

The NYR development playbook. Track record speaks for itself.

Kravtsov scratch… oof

This is something Quinn would say too.

"If you don't play well, you don't play"

Except if your Chris Kreider. Then you get to keep playing.

Crazy because when the #vets play like absolute trash, they still play

he doesn't realize they were "bad" because 75% of their shifts were sabotaged by being with the 3rd D pair. ill admit i thought this guy was the right coach when he signed him, but he's just like all the others. a moron.

If they squander another 2 points because the offense can't get it done (again), this dudes will be shoveling another pile of dirt from his own grave

At least Jones is in for Hajek. Probably will help generate a bit more since he's capable of skating the puck up ice. Of course Trouba will still get 2nd unit time over him

The bottom line problem with Gallant, Quinn or any other Muppet this organization keeps hiring is the kids are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Play amazing and carry the team like they did in the playoffs. Do you think that got them extra playing time? Nope 15 minutes with no PP tops.

Play mediocre and they will get 13 minutes and the coach will change nothing to get them or the rest of the team going. This is like the AV mentality of refusing to adjust to the other team because they don't want to get away from their game. Except if the other team is scheming and executing better than you, you have to do something different!

The military talk about flexibility. Hockey ogres talk about "our/my way" to play and no other. That's why Cooper's teams have been so successful.

I understand the sentiment, but for Laf in particular it's clearly not true. After a good (but unproductive) playoffs, he didn't play less than 15 mins a night until game 15 and routinely got over 17 mins

KK's hasn't been as good but it's still 14 of 18 over 15 mins and 5/18 over 17

While lack of useful PP time hurts their numbers, they are getting the EV time so far this season to be difference makers, they just aren't doing much with it (but neither are the rest of the team)

EDIT to add: Laf is 3rd amongst forwards in EV ice time so far (Panarin and Trocheck are higher), and KK is 5th (he averages 5 seconds less than Mika)
