I think it's a relatively new phenomenon. In all pro sports, not just hockey.

Growing up in Connecticut, there were a number of teams to follow. Discussions were mostly about players, and of course the coach or manager. Rarely about management, even in the media. In all the places that I've seen games live, there is no where I've been where fans were talking about management more than in and around Boston. Even when my son was playing hockey, I'd wear my Bruins hat to his games and someone would inevitably come up to me, say they are a fan, and then bitch and moan about Jacobs and Sinden. Cheap bastards. Like they could win the Cup every year if they only wanted to.

OT: Before moving to Maine, I grew up in North Stonington, right on the CT/RI border.

I think that management picked the players, perhaps with input from Cooper, but that Cooper decided who would play goal and on the line combos. I thought both coaches were great in this tournament.

I read some criticism for Canada's management for not taking Thompson from the Caps to be their starting goalie. Many, myself included, thought that goal was Canada's weakness.

Binnington is very inconsistent, but he obviously plays his best in the biggest games, much to my chagrin.

Which players do people think did themselves the most harm in this series, and which ones raised their price in their UFA year?

I was surprised to see Faber on the USA first D pair and Hanifin and Fox on the third pair (consistent with their minutes played last night). "Chollie" Mac looked good until he got hurt. Both sides had injuries and illness, even swap.

Every fan base shits on their management. Tale as old as time.
Very true and on their coaches as well, not matter what the sport it seems. Fans seem very reluctant to place blame on the players.

Barry Switzer once said, "It's not the Xs and the Os; it's the Jimmys and the Joes."

Canada had the two best forwards and best dman.

Sweeney has done a good job overall. I am sure he’d like to have the 2015 first round back and I am sure he would like to undo this summer’s signings and deals, but overall good body of work considering, by all accounts, he is being asked to keep the team perpetually in the playoffs. Tough to do and it usually means trading futures and picking at the end of the rounds for the picks you do keep.
Even if he didn't screw up 2015 draft he probably would have panicked and traded them like Seguin when they came due for the second contract.

Just a good time to have a firesale and then take another shot at free agency with some future picks stashed. McAvoy Pasta Swayman Poitras we got some pieces. I really don't want him steering the ship he's had 10 years in charge and we've gotten progressively worse.

2023 season he won GM of the year was bc Krejci and Bergeron played their final seasons for pennies on the dollar.

That team wound up being a monumental **** tease.

I gave him exteamly high credit when he went all in a few years back, but im getting sick of the regular season hero awards shit.

Maybe Im 100% wrong but the roster is such junk up and down the line up playing in possitions they are qualified to play in due to skill lack there of.

Good news: you don't have to worry about that anymore.

Why? One of his teams made the cup vs the 6,7 and 8 seeds in the East and have been past round 2 once in a decade. Because his teams are good in the regular season? Again, thank God for Toronto.
His teams is what your about to see from now on out. Those previous playoff runs were mainly players from the prior regime.

Take Pasta and March away and you have an expansion team not named Vegas, and those two are now the only players left from the previous regime.
