This is like the AV mentality of refusing to adjust to the other team because they don't want to get away from their game. Except if the other team is scheming and executing better than you, you have to do something different!

The military talk about flexibility. Hockey ogres talk about "our/my way" to play and no other. That's why Cooper's teams have been so successful.

Rangers have never had a "Plan B" of any kind. If "their way" isn't working, they will try and force it: over and over and over.....

I wouldn’t say Gallant has a type but what I would say is possibly he has a type he doesn’t like.
Morgan Barron and Vitali Kravtsov. Two confident, cocksure kids.
In Gallants kitchen there is a 11” x 9” plaque that has embossed the saying “Always stay Humble and Kind”.
Gallant was a player that succeeded without flash. Maybe young players with swagger rub him the wrong way?

man... my excitement after opening day against Tampa was through the roof...

I have now went back to Brad Richards Rangers, with a 'meh, they aren't winning anything this way'

I know that I know, this team will not win a cup unless something drastic changes.

This isn't a Turk issue, this is on Drury. What is Turk supposed to do without any legitimate options to alter the lineup. Gauthier? Really? Like right now Dryden Hunt would be an upgrade to the lineup but he was lost to waivers. Drury needs to start wearing this. Capped out team with absolutely no way to make any moves and he has done nothing to create cap space for the deadline by manipulating call ups and send downs. He is completely married to this roster...

If you can Turk the only reason is you want a hard ass coach to shake this apathy up. At some point Mike Babcock is going to coach in the NHL again, it's just a matter of time. I don't want him here but the country club needs to end soon

you know I often wonder if a decade from now we're going to be sitting here still trying to reach the heights we reached this past spring.
I guess by that time we'll have already undergone another rebuild.

I can't wait to struggle against a Sharks team when we're supposed to be a cup contender

KK's hasn't been as good but it's still 14 of 18 over 15 mins and 5/18 over 17

While lack of useful PP time hurts their numbers, they are getting the EV time so far this season to be difference makers, they just aren't doing much with it (but neither are the rest of the team)

EDIT to add: Laf is 3rd amongst forwards in EV ice time so far (Panarin and Trocheck are higher), and KK is 5th (he averages 5 seconds less than Mika)

Well, the lineup with Kravtsov with Panarin and Goodrow as the fourth line center looked fine. But who knows. Maybe there's, astonishingly, another weird Vitali Kravtsov story, or maybe they want a certain number of guys who can PK (for whatever reason Blais/Gauthier never do), so it's harder than it looks to scratch Carp. Maybe it's that old Rangers thing where the fourth line is radioactive, so you can't put an assistant captain with a big cap hit there.

But I agree that they've locked themselves into this veteran group and it might not be pretty. Worst case scenario is across from us, the Sharks, no one expected them to drop off so fast. Of course I think they had zero young players of note, but how many do we have, really?

Yuppppp. I expect something from Hartford on the next homestand if this descent continues.

Slow, not willing to win board battles. High scoring chances against. Top youngsters playing with zero creativity and skill. East/West 5x5 is predictable as horse shit from Clydesdale.

I agree with almost everything else. Sharks got caught in between and the karlsson deal is what completely screwed them. They tried to sign taveras and offered him more money than anyone else but they couldn't lure him and decided to go for it while they still have some good players. Blew up in their face. Grier will do a good job there but it isn't going to happen overnight. They need to get out of the karlsson deal somehow, and right now he is helping any chance they have of making that happen.
