Vegas playing on a back-to-back? Vancouver missing Miller and Boeser?

Ahhhhh it won’t matter because our goalies can’t stop a beach ball and forwards don’t know how to score before February!!!!

How early is too early to call this season a write-off?
We are a three win streak away from being positive again.

It’s not a write off. The Atlantic is tight. The boys are playing well.

Those oiler fans were behaving as they should.

They went to the cup finals recently and have two of the best players in the world.

We have been a joke for years.

What did you expect?
I expect not to get harassed by opposing teams “fans” (probably born in Ottawa but are weak of mind) in my own building. This fanbase is simply not feared enough

It is what it is.

10 years ago I was complaining that when me and my buddies would get a buzz going and start cheering for our team or starting chants or booing plays, the fans would look at you like "shut up". The atmosphere was never "hey, let's come here to make this building a loud, boisterous, energetic, etc " and it's always been more of "hey, quiet down, I'm trying to enjoy this time with my kids" lol imagine going to a soccer game in Europe and telling fans not to drink beer, stand up, and cheer and chant. To just sit there so they can enjoy the time with their kids.

So now you get fans of other teams who want to come chant and be loud and energetic in our building and we'll just glare at them.

Yeah because they don't know how to reach fans. Their marketing team has sucked for as long as I can remember.

I went to Chuck's Roadhouse grill in orleans and it's advertising cheap beer on Leafs game days haha.

The sens are not engrained in the community at all.

The sports coverage is also super sub par. I hear about every little detail of every other team, but nothing about Ottawa's team. If the national broadcasts won't give the sens their fair shake, then maybe they need to push a local broadcast to start pushing everything sens. Young fans need to see the team being talked about or else they'll go to the teams that are talked about...or the teams that win.

People need to know you cheer for your home town. It’s is vs them.

I’m first generation sens. And all our teachers were Habs or leafs fans and they used to just insult the sens constantly. Parents the same.

If my sons teacher was insulting the local team and trying to convert people to rival clubs there would be a price to pay.

too many die hard rival fans from the 60s 70s 80s and kids like to follow their parents (weak) or their role models (weak). You cheer for your hometown. End of story.

I’m a sens national socialist.

We need to win for the fans to wear the colours in pride.

I'm the type of guy who was obsessed with the sens in highschool and played competitive hockey and soccer...so I had annual tournaments in both seasons in Montreal and Toronto. I would literally bring multiple sens jerseys with Hossa or redden or Alfredsson etc to show off the sens in Toronto and Montreal.

But the sens start sucking sooooo much ass for soooo long, that I don't even want to wear my sens stuff out in the city because it's embarassing. I still have 20 sens jerseys and 20 t shirts and hoodies and ball caps...it's just a joke though at this point.

Like when you have a Phoenix coyote hoodie and you wear it for laughs and everyone laughs at you asking why you have a Phoenix hoodie and you say you found it on clearance for like $5 so why not.

Cheering for a team is not about winning or losing. It’s about duty. And supporting the team that adds to your city.

People in Europe have cheered for soccer teams that haven’t won in like 100 years.

When did the leafs last win? They still have fans. This “win and you’ll get fans” is an Ottawa thing. Fans abroad? Maybe. But you shouldn’t have to convince local people to cheer for you.

We cheer. We're just not proud.

I'm still startling my cats when we score. I'm cheering. I'm watching every game.

There just isn't much pride in the team right now.

I'm not proud of Chabot or ullmark etc.

I'm proud of people or things that accomplish things and do good.

I'm proud of my parents for being wonderful parents. I'm proud of my girlfriend for being a wicked ass partner kicking ass at being pregnant.

I'm not proud of seeing hamonic get walked or not handle the puck at a proper NHL level.

I'm not proud of the annual November dumpster fire that is senators hockey.

That first GA was so deflating
Chabot handled it poorly but wtf was Cousins(?), or maybe it was Norris, doing? He spun around and skated out of Bouchard's way to open up a lane straight down the middle, no back pressure, nothing.

Early season success was because when a Dman looked up there was an open stick in an open lane to make a pass all 6 D could make in any siatuion and it was working.

Dman are looking up and the east pas isn’t there and they look like a DJ Sntih team if they keep thinking they want the puck at the opposition blue line.

Lazy, selfish, unfocused. Go nowhere hockey

lol well
I’m obviously
Not talking about you or the people on this board. We are fans. I’m talking about likely over half of the city that cheers for (insert the other 31 teams).

Time to switch the lines up I guess. Would like to see Gregor draw back in for Cousins.

Was at the game last night, first game in like 4-5 years. It was one to forget. It reminded me of being at a home game vs the Habs or Leafs, the barn was full of Oilers fans.

It should improve as kids who grew up with the sens will now have kids...so if their parents are watching the sens every game, they'll have plenty of exposure.

Talk to your friends who cheer for other teams...the reasons are usually something like "they had a cool logo" or "they won the cup" and then once you solidify your team, it will never change.

Winning is a big thing for bandwagon fans though..when Ottawa was in the finals, apparently all these people around me were the biggest sens fans all of a sudden. If they could have continued it and won a cup or 2 and went to another final, you'd probably have gained way more permanent fans.

It's crazy how many fans Detroit or Colorado had after they won cups...or Pittsburgh or Tampa...

Little kids everywhere wanting to get their star players t shirts.

They aren't trying to get a Norris shirt.

He's got to get healthy first, but yeah, Gregor in for Cousins would be good. Cousins isn't even being an effective pest even though the line has been good.

This team seems to be coached for low event games. Our offense has shown in previous years that they can score when they play a run-and-gun game, but can they do it when playing more responsibly? Off the cycle, I can see some occasional game-breaking move by Stutzle or Batherson leading to a goal, but what happened to Norris' one-timer? What happened to Brady crashing the net and scoring some garbage goal? And our timid defense isn't exactly bringing much offensively. Jensen is currently our most dangerous D offensively, and that's not a good thing. Chabot has his moments too. Don't know what's going on with Sanderson, it's like he's trying to play like the bad version of Chabot, indecisive in the offensive zone, not paying attention in the D zone.

Now low event and boring would be fine by me, but then the goalie needs to make f'ing stop from time to time. With proper goaltending by Shitmark, maybe we win some of these recent games 1-0 or 2-1.

Some positives:

- Maybe it's because I'm completely desensitized by now, but I didn't find this loss as frustrating as the previous two. At least we followed a known pattern of bad goaltending and inability to create offensive chances. I don't like it when they are creative in finding new ways to lose; and this time they weren't creative.

- Honestly, I thought Hamonic played well.

- I have a good feeling about Thursday.
Yes, scoring has dropped off recently (heavy emphasis on the word recently). Don’t think scoring between 0 - 2 goals per game is a formula for success. That means your goalie would need to play absolutely lights out and stop everything, and that’s not very realistic either. I’ve wondered if our scoring would drop if the team focused more on team D. It didn’t at the beginning of the year. Our PP was good earlier in the season, and we had healthy goal production then. So, it's hard to know what to expect.

I’m not so sure about the next game against VGK. Senators are due to breakout at some point, but Vegas is a solid team and one of the best in the league.

Can this Hamonic nonsense just end? He's useless and as soon as he came in for JBD we started losing again.
Don’t think Hamonics play is the big issue, at least lately. That’s kind of the lazy analysis imo. I’m not saying he’s good. It's just that there other issues & problems. We could use some more goal production, and saves though.

Did you intend to say that Ottawa has more fans than any other NHL team? Probably not, but that’s what you typed.
Most fans of other teams than other cities in the NHL. I don’t know.

They have the most non hometown teams of any NHL city? I dono.
