I really don't get the thought process of sending him down. I mean I know people want to send him down to gain his "scoring touch" but he's getting better every game and gaining more confidence playing in the nhl then he ever would in the AHL. Ever since they attempted to send him down he's played with more confidence and physicality in his game. I haven't seen anything of late that warrants another player taking his spot, or him playing himself out of a spot.

He's a -13, which is pretty hard to do through 16 games. He and JJ are horrendous in this stat, which I do realize is not a great statistic but when he's such an outlier among the forwards on the team it's saying something.

He also is pretty consistently below 50% in Corsi, a more advanced stat if you prefer that.

I mean at some point, it has to be about producing...something. He has the same or worse stats than Michael Chaput, who has been stuck on the 4th line and with no PP time and almost 3:45 less ice time/game.

He's getting almost 15 minutes/game, in all three phases in many games, and has 2 assists through 16 games. I like his two-game and think he has a lot of potential, but what exactly is he bringing to the table that Skille or Calvert can't do?

Well he is not going to take Calvert's spot so that is a non-issue. The question is does Skille or Gibbons bring more to the table than Wennberg? And there also has to be some consideration given to the experience he is gaining.

Why not just put skille and gibbons on fourth line and wennberg on third and not have to send any down

The kid needs to go down to the minors and play top line minutes with top PP time and used in all situations.... Boggles my mind how some of you don't see this. Yea "the kid is getting better every game" (is he?)

Reach his potential. We know what we have in Calvert. We know what we have in Skille. He doesn't try to be fancy and make stupid plays, he doesn't take boneheaded penalties nor does he play out of position. He's not taking Calverts spot, but he has yet to play with actual NHL regulars since the first few games. We knew he wasn't going to be ready for a top 6 role yet he got stuck as the #2C with incapable wingers which definitely played a huge role is his +/-.

I want to see him on Dubinsky or Jenners wing on an actual NHL line. On either the 2nd or 3rd line. He's gained a lot of confidence and experience in these 16 games IMO. If he plays on one of those lines and is obviously dragging them down by all means send him down, but I don't see it happening. Gibbons isn't exactly producing on the first line with Joey, but on the same note he hasn't looked out of place either. I'll say it until my face turns blue, him playing in the NHL will help his confidence more then playing in a lower league(as much as I'd like to see a Rychel-Wennberg-Dano line) especially without Larsen as the coach.

But onto the actual game, I really hope we can continue our dominance over Detroit. 5-3

Joey(x2), Foligno, Wiz and Erixon with the goals. Bob makes 30+ saves.

Heading down soon. I hope the cold, Tuesday game, and team records keep the Wings fans to a minimum. They are among my least favorites.
