What is concerning is playing not to lose. No one entered Caps zone after dumping puck, just sitting back with under 3:00 to play, letting Caps have free breakouts and playing passive. That can't happen if s team expects to win in that situation. SOJ is right.

He's letting in a bad goal a game. It's gone from "how cute, Bob's giving the other team a chance to win" to "He's a slow starter, he'll get better" to "Does Bob has Mason Syndrome?"

You just knew that 3rd goal was coming. It felt exactly like the Mason years.
Yeah, I did know that goal was coming. But not because of "Oh, Bob's in net, they're going to score." But rather "We can't clear the ****ing puck, they're going to score."

Not much finish in this team so far this season, tonight, once up 3-2, they looked as if they were wishing the clock would end it for them...

They need to work harder and smarter and with more conviction... horrible loss tonight, they had two points and a two game winning streak in their grasp and blew it...

Good luck on the Canada swing...

Oh please. Bobrovsky is worlds better than the Mason that was here after his rookie year. They're not even in the same universe. It's 16 games into the ****ing season and we're already calling Mason Syndrome? Are we serious? It's one thing to say he's a slow starter, but look at his stats, however curious some of the goals he's let in are, they're in no way close to Mason's aside from the W/L record.

Lose the lead in final minutes then lose game in OT. it's carved in stone with this team, you know it's going to happen....

This is really not true at all. I'd bet you that we've lost fewer leads in the third, in the Richards era, than most teams. Isn't there some factoid about this?

It doesn't really apply here, but were something like 29-0-0 under Richards when leading after 2 periods.

5 points out of a playoff spot with at least one game in hand on the 6-8 seeds. Plenty of season left

Eh, I think this game was a step in the right direction in terms of offense. And our defense was much better for most of the night. While we reduced the amount of dumb plays committed, Washington did a good job of cashing in on the few we did.

Also we hit like 3 posts.

Usually I'm not too optimistic about a loss, but this effort was more reminiscent of last year's team than this year's.

Sorry Crede, the emotional tenor of your post is supposed to reflect the fact that we lost. Why don't you understand?
It doesn't matter how many posts we hit, if we hit them it must be because we're incompetent, right? I mean we're Columbus, right?:sarcasm:

Speaking only for myself I expressed wiz dissapointment because I expect the aforementioned from Johansson in pretty much every key situation ever.

Wiz, no.

You expect better defence from Wiz than Johansen?? Are you one of those watch the Jackets once or twice a year people?

The Bob and Mason comparisons are spot on right now. The biggest issue we had with Mason was his lack of making the big save and stealing points from the other team.

Haven't seen that in Bob this season. He let's in a bad goal every game, looks worse every game when it comes to handling the puck and he's clueless when he leaves his crease. I keep waiting for him to make those big saves to win us a game and it never happens.

Post game guys say the CBJ are not good enough on defesne to shut down a game... basically, the Jackets are not good enough...

That strongly suggests that we're not giving up many third period leads as well. Unless we only have a tendency to give up leads that we acquire in the third, which is unlikely. Basically the story that "We're Columbus, we always give up the lead" is the opposite of true.

I'll just take encouragement that Columbus fans now consider a .911 goalie as Masonesque. That's moving on up in the world.

Good Lord, it comes to a point where you almost wish Wisniewski was bad on offense just to justify benching him for his terrible defense. Sure, as another poster said, he was decent most of the night, but at the end of the day he still but up a -2 for the evening and had an epic fail on the gwg. Wisniewski being only -4 on the year is a minor miracle.

Guys Mason just got a shutout. Let's see if we can get rid of Bob while his value is still kinda high and get Mason back. Any takers? :sarcasm:

Johansen lost Ovechkin. You can't lose ovechkin.

Can't blame Johansen there IMHO. Wiz should have held him up on the boards and the play doesn't happen. Between BOB and Wiz they served this one up on a platters to the caps. Add Gaborik floating around all night and you have the ingredients for a loss

Once again, Wiz was fine all night aside from the OT. Bob was fine all game too aside from bad placement on 3rd goal (But could be avoided by clearing the puck one time) and the 2nd goal, which has no excuses.

How anyone on here can continue to defend that guy after what we've seen this year is beyond me. He just isn't a piece to the puzzle we're trying to put together. Looking at the types of guys we have on this team, he shares few to none of the characteristics they bring to the table. Wish we could rid ourselves of him as soon as possible, he's only weighing the rest of the team down.
