Team USA needs to work on their fundamentals and low-risk play. They keep missing easy passes and going for the fancy high-risk plays.

Sweden has been just the opposite. Great defense and neutral zone leading to goals on the mistakes USA made.

I don't think the game was tight at all, Sweden dominated the game even before the 3-0 goal
They weren't dominating, they were just the better team. A 2-0 game after a great shift/momentum swinger by that line could have lead to a goal eventually in that second period. But that giveaway was disastrous and knocked out any momentum they had gained.

That yellow color is very appropriate as Sweden are absolutely swarming out there.
Not to be confused with Ukraine, similarity ends with the color. Swedes have been very impressive. They may well be in the finals if they keep this up, still early but wow what a team.

Was leaving Reilly Walsh off the team a mistake? I thought he would make the team for that shot of his alone. Not a fan of how he defends though.

Everyone is always critical of how guys like Walsh and Gildon play defense - but the reality is with guys like that you spend a lot less time actually playing defense, because the puck is back up the other end of the ice with their puck movement/breakout skills.

The real excitement about this team leading into the tournament was their mobile D jump-starting transition and offense. And they left all those guys at home, except for Quinn...

Meanwhile Sweden's transition game has given the US fits tonight...

The Swedes have played really well tonight. They just play so poised and smart and their system suits is really good.

It’s a bad game guys relax, USA will play better as the tournament goes on.

Why do people overreact so much recently

While it is a bad game, it’s also the first real team that they’ve had to face and they’ve fallen flat tonight. Here they are in their 3rd game and they don’t look good. It’s a short tournament but they might not have much time left in the tournament.

They don’t have much time left, now you’re looking at facing Canada, Russia or the Czech’s in the Quarters instead of Slovakia. One bad game can ruin your tournament... if they lose to Finland, which is entirely possible they’ll get to draw Russia or Canada. That’s potentially the end of the line.

Quinn was literally the guy who started that momentum change, he literally was the guy just seconds before who created two scoring chances.

If either of those goals happen, he’s basically going to be talked about how his carrying USA on his back.

Everybody knows the guy is a high-risk player but more often than not he makes the right play and it’s usually spectaular

Sweden's d-core is ridiculous......especially in terms of transitioning to offense. Could you imagine Dahlin and Liljegren on this team. hahahaha

Agreed .. they have a lot of experience back there .. A couple AHL players; Their forward lines are deep as well; they can skate and they move the puck quick. Its one game , so won't judge too quick, but this game they look like a much better team.

Thats just the most stupid thing I have read recently. It was an all-team effort by the entire line and d pairing which included Hughes. Everyone would have talked about the tired-less cycling that changed the tide of the game not a single player. I mean its clear you are saying all of this cuz he is a Nucks prospect but come one dude...

Who are these 3 injured d’s you’re talking about? Liljegren ofc, but the other two?
I'm probably talking out of my ass, because now I can't find out who they were. Maybe one of them was Boqvist, but he's not injured anymore and I can't even find the last guy, lol, so he can't have been that important.

What the f*** are you talking about it’s literally right here in front of you

If I'm the U.S., I'm pleased it's as close as it is.

If I'm Sweden, I'm glad the U.S. didn't score to finish out the 2nd.

I think people here are being too hard on Hughes. Yes that play that led to the 3rd Sweden goal was unfortunate but he is "giving" more in the offensive zone than he is "taking" from Team USA in the neutral and defensive zones.

I see him as their best chance to score goals in the 3rd.

He’s the guy that turned the puck over in a brutal fashion that led to a breakaway and goal.

lmao

watch him stop responding

created a cross crease one timer chance out of nothing -> "it was a team play"
Just classic world juniors posting, it’s been like this for the last God knows how many years.

People just find prospects who they choose they want to hate and no matter what they do they will criticize.

That’s why so many people shit on Toronto Maple Leafs prospects, that’s why so many people shit on Canucks prospects, and the Oilers and the flames notice a pattern.

I still remember last year when Elias was getting shit on because he had one bad shift, then the next shift he scored a goal and everybody Basically stop typing
