Tkachuk was so far back it was almost comical. He was lazy! Ullmark makes a great save and then miraculously the puck bounces to Tkachuk and he turns and heads back to the Ozone and scores. Turns from the goat to a hero!Norris actually skated hard then got confused as to who his man was as Tkachuk and Sandy pointed at different people, effort was there just not the decision making. I think Tkachuk thought he had the trailer and Sandy and Norris had the rush, in which case Tkachuk skating harder isn't going to help him cover who he considers his man, so again, not an effort thing.
Somebody has to cover the trailer, 3v3 is man coverage, Tkachuk was ahead of the trailer, if he'd been up with the other Bruin, it leaves the trailer wide up with speed right up the middle.Tkachuk was so far back it was almost comical. The coaching staff needs to make the point (motivating the players) that wins now will help immensely in getting into the playoffs at the end of the season. Then the coaching staff must take actions to get the team to play better (teach them how to play a solid defensive game), lowering the GA. There is still a lot of puck watching going on and lazy back-checking.One win out of 3rd place, doing okay.
I understand. But he did not seem to be covering anybody at all. And Norris was completely out of it too, far behind.Somebody has to cover the trailer, 3v3 is man coverage, Tkachuk was ahead of the trailer, if he'd been up with the other Bruin, it leaves the trailer wide up with speed right up the middle.
In the playoffs? LOL. Solid, losing play ends with no playoffs. We keep up the "solid" play and continue to hover right around .500 and the only playoffs this team will be talking about is dreaming about 2026.Do you want garbage wins that get exposed in the playoffs or do you want solid play that trends in the right direction with the reasonable expectation that they will be our ticket to the playoffs?
This is where we fundamentally disagree. All these moral victories and "we outplayed them" and "we deserved better" add up to jack shit. I'm in the results part of this rebuild and have been for the previous 2 years. When we missed in 2023 with an 86 point season, I felt good about all the moral victories. They actually meant something that year. Now? Meaningless to me. A moral victory means we lost the game. Period. And losses don't get us to the playoffs. The Vegas game is a great example. That was a heartbreaking loss but we outplayed one of the best teams in the league in the hardest barn in the league to play in. There was a moral victory there that gives me confidence it can beat good teams in tough playoff scenarios. That showed me a lot more than, say, the LA game which was a garbage win that only exposed how much work we have to do.
Yep, I'm holding my judgment until then. Doesn't change the fact that this team is struggling to stay above .500 while we get to the 25 game mark.I know you'll say that if we don't win we won't make the playoffs and yeah, thats obvious but you said it yourself that the 25 game mark is when we know what this team is made of. Until then I want to see good signs that we can build from assuming we scrape together an ok record in the time being. Garbage teams get exposed in the long run regardless of their record, teams that play the right way are left standing at the end.
Welcome to being a fan of a league that measures the success of its teams with wins and losses, not "inputs".Wins and Losses are the "results"; they are not the "inputs" required to get the results we want.
I think I have 3 people blocked including whoever we are talking about in this thread, this place is so so much more enjoyable. So I (for one) vote to ban blocking blockingBan blocking
I believe I read that their baby girl needs open-heart surgery. There were questions whether she would survive the birth, happy that she overcame that hurdle. Prayers out to the family during this difficult time. His wife had a complicated pregnancy, she gave birth but it seems like they are not completely out of the woods yet.
I wouldn’t say no effort. Norris is back in time. But there’s a miscommunication between him and sandy and he doesn’t know where tkatchuk is.Norris and Brady made no effort to rush back, leaving Jake alone on 1 vs 2, they just looked at each other to say "you, take the man", it was comical bad.
Thanks Ullmark for the win.
Boston is terrible in F/O now that Bergeron isn't there anymore. I think Kastelic is the best this year, but he's in their bottom 6.The Sens outshot Boston 2-1. They dominated time of possession and the faceoff circle.
Deserved win, no doubt.
Maybe they'll put Perron there however Perron had a lot of chemistry with Pinto and Amadio so not sure what the coach will do once everyone returns. We’re missing a top 6 winger on the roster imo so I think it’s a problem no matter the combinations tbh. I actually liked Greig better tonight than I have when he was on the Stützle/Brady line. Realistically I don’t think Greig should be in the top 6 just yet, we just don’t have many options.
I think it bodes well for the Senators that they can dominate the faceoffs. Boston definitely needs some help, the way they looked last night I don't think that they are making the playoffs.Boston is terrible in F/O now that Bergeron isn't there anymore. You need to post earlier and more often.Dead GDT for a Saturday night game against a divisional rival
They are 13th in the league, we:re 18th...Boston is terrible in F/O now that Bergeron isn't there anymore. I think Kastelic is the best this year, but he's in their bottom 6.
It didn't seem like it last night. I didn't look up the stats before posting, just eyeball test during the game. They are 13th in the league, we:re 18th...

You're acting like we should be able to turn it on like a light switch. This team has scar tissue it needs to heal and we are still in that phase. As long as we show early and continued improvement under the new regime and don't lose ground on the playoff race we should be able to dwell on the positives. In the playoffs? LOL. I think an over-productive PP made it hard to accurately assess the first stretch of games. Despite a lot of these "eye test" takes, it seems our advanced stats numbers are almost completely divorced from what's happening in reality. And the fact is, if we're out of it by American Thanksgiving, in just over 2 weeks, it's statistically unlikely that we'll make the playoffs. You're acting like we should be able to turn it on like a light switch. This is not a call to complacency as you will argue, this is acknowledging that the team looks better than year's past for more than just flashes and is engaged in a process which culminates much later in the season, not in early November as an alarmist would argue. I say alarmist because yeah, we're still right there in the playoff race.

We wouldn't be the first team to ride a good PP to a playoff record. Our PP has been the one bright spot over the years so maybe we do actually tick along at 25%+ and its a big part of an eventual playoff record.I think an over-productive PP made it hard to accurately assess the first stretch of games.
