Hard to win when your top pair D is light on effort in that last minute situation of a tie game. I love the Viking but doing a flyby on the wrap around instead of fighting to contain the puck in no danger ice isn't good enough. Bouchard not great with net front coverage and Oiler forwards late on the trackback.

Can't score. No PP. Can't get kills. And sloppy team defending adds up to a heap of trouble. Oil blew through a soft opening schedule and top of division rivals are now on the docket. Gave one away tonight. But this team has alot of deficiencies. I think the lack of transitional talent on this substandard d-corp is a contributing factor to an offense that's on life support.

Right now he has to play perfect for us to win because we don’t score goals.
Right now I cant imagine one single player having confidence in the goalie so that player can play his game without fear of making a single mistake, or its in the back of the net.

Ask yourself how many games does Skinner win for us in a year 2-3 maybe?

Was he even in consideration? Are they on Drugs. lol

It would have to be a Kevin Lowe situation where he stuck Brewer on team Canada.

At the beginning of the year, yeah.

I mean he was pretty good in the WCF and beyond. He probably is still in contention for the roster if he's above .900. Probably front runner for starter if he's above .910.

So many defensive errors. Guys skating across the blue line unchecked and uninhibited.

Who missed their backcheck on the Eichel goal?
I know we lost some players but it’s the same coach and we still have some of the pieces. We’ve turned into floaters that don’t want to play any semblance of hard hockey.

I can stomach losing. What I can’t stomach is apathy and gutless play

Need a goalie that can save a goal at an important juncture of the game.

Need a PP that can score a timely goal.

Need a PK that doesn't shit the bed at critical times.

Need forwards that can actually finish chances that are on a plate for them and who actually give 2 shits about driving hard to the net... getting dirty... getting deflections/tips/rebounds in greasy areas. I guess Kulak counts as the ONE this year. Sad.

ANY of those above elements would have meant a win instead of a loss tonight. Team doesn't have it. Horses on the roster + chemistry between the players plus the determination/effort just isn't there.

Honestly... the more I think about it the more I'm getting on board with jettising Bouchard off this team. How can somebody be so bad defensively and be considered a defenseman. The guy looks fn clueless at defensive reads. I could see that play happening before the puck even entered the zone.. how the fxx can someone play defense thier entire life not recognize the trailing defenseman. That's moronic level IQ

Ekholm couldn't catch him, but Bouchard was doing fu** all lol. COntroller disconnect. If he skates hard he probably gets to him. He just stops at the blueline

The level of "compete" has to be of some concern. If you look at the last 7 years it seems to be the norm rather than the outlier.

Game 6 of the 3rd round was a good one and really He shouldn’t have to. Skinner is paid 2. Something million to be a passable goalie. We’re paying how much to be the lowest scoring team in the league? Put the shoe on the other foot. How do the goalies feel knowing that they literally never have run support and every goal they give up will decide the game?

You don’t win if you don’t score goals. Doesn’t matter what your goalie does. In fact there is no goalie in the nhl that could drag this team to a winning record right now.
2 goals was enough to win this game, Skinner fluffed on 2 that the Vegas goalie (or most any other starting goalie) would have stopped. You have to admit he's been trash at his 880 save % . How can a team have any confidence in that?

Nah, doesn't work like that. You have to make the saves you're supposed to save. You can't say well we didn't score enough to win when actually we didn't make enough average saves to win.

2 goals is not enough to win regularly not even close. Our goals were miracles from god too. An insanly lucky bounce and a tip from Brett kulak lol both those things will 100% not happen again this year or maybe ever.

Don’t shit talk Skinner. Oilersnation says he is the perfect goalie for this team and is better than Oettinger.

Same old point. 40 years since the Oilers drafted and developed a #1 goalie.

Dude 880 save % . Its impossible to go anywhere with that. If a team gets 30 shots on us Skinner is letting in 3-4 goals...how in the sweet jesus are you going to outscore that every night.

If you think having a sieve in net doesn’t have a ripple effect across the team then you never played hockey.
