According to reports, the Yankees offered 760 mill, and the Mets bumped their offer to 765 mill AND box seats for the entire Soto family. Yankees declined on the box seats. Apparently that was the tippler. Maybe they wanted to save them for Marcus Stroman's relatives.:D

The Jays are such a joke of a franchise, they have an entire country of about 40 million to themselves, that's a pretty big audience. They should absolutely be a major player in free agency, maybe not for the generational guys, like Ohtani and Soto, but for sure for the next level. They have plenty of money, and should be willing to spend to get the guys they want and need. But, for some reason, they seem fine with being a mediocre team with mediocre results. The fact that Atkins and Shapiro are still in charge of a team after their lack of success over the last few years is laughable. Can anyone really see the Jays having a good offseason?

so they moved Horiwitz for Gimenez. basically the same age. I think Horiwtitz is the better hitter, he is fairly unproven, but the guy does have talent. Gimenez is the more valuable defensive player, gold glove at 2nd base. I thought Wagner looked good at 2nd, and looked good at the plate as well. Not sure if I like this deal, only time will tell.

also, some of those young guys seemed to be really close and have a connection (Horowitz, Barger, Clemet, Schneider). I don't like breaking that up before we see that they could do together.

He's a good player, but the Yankees dodged a bullet with that contract, its ridiculous.

Yankees just couldn't help themselves, giving Max Fried an 8 year deal making him the highest paid lefthander in history. Good pitcher, not sure he's worth all of that. Now they need to fill out the rest of the lineup. Pretty much the entire infield.

Tough times for Jays fans. Looks like Vlady has turned down their offer and wants to test free agency,

Vladimir Guerrero Jr has decided to reject a massive offer from the Toronto Blue Jays

Do they trade him then? Should they have made this offer before the Soto deal? Sorry don't follow baseball much anymore but cheer for the Jays if they can make the playoffs.

No problem. I would think a trade has to be on the table, given his decision, and with him being a free agent at the end of the season, it might have to be a sign and trade for another team, unless they want to take the Yankees route and take a chance like they did with Soto. With him gone, I would expect it will be prospects/drafts coming the other way. As for playoffs, I think this will now set them back a few years, as I would expect it will also have an influence on other free agents wanting to play there.

It was great to see Vladdy lose some weight and get more athletic to play the field as well rather than just a DH. Not sure he has the passion or dedication to be the best he can be. He has the natural talent but again, I'm a fair weather fan at best.

I agree with you. Given his potential and talent, and despite some decent numbers, I think he's underachieved so far in his career.

If they can't sign him long term, gotta be traded you would think. Would be utter malpractice otherwise. Not like you keep him cause you have a shot at a champonship this year.

Wait, I forgot which management team we were talking about. We're so screwed.

At least they didn't get stuck with that Soto contract.

Personally I think the Yankees dodged a massive bullet there, or were at least saved from themselves.

That contract is utter lunacy.

The great Ricky Henderson of the A's, the Blue Jays and the Yanks passes away at 65. Greatest leadoff hitter and base stealer of all time.
Couldn't agree more. I've seen many great base stealers, but no one who could intimidate and dominate on the base pads like he could. And he could hit. RIP.
