Maybe I'm in the minority but I didn't see the hit as warranting anything more than his 5 and game last night.
Not that he has been a big hitter but I remember when Patches got suspended for hitting Letang, he pretty much dropped that part of his game when before that he would occasionally destroy guys.

Well, if Slaf is getting a hearing then he's out for 2 probably. That seems to be the standard this year on bad hits. Really don't expect more than that, but Huff was injured (broken wrist), so he's out 10-12 weeks.

Slafkovsky will likely be sent to the timeout room for a couple of games or so later today by the DoPS so Pez likely gets in tonight I'd imagine.
The NHL tends to place more weight on the result of an act than the act itself. Since Luff is reported to be seriously injured, timeout may be on the lengthier side but it's never predictable.

Meantime, Hughes on the phone with Steve Yzerman:

Hughes: Hey Stevey, so sorry about Luff.
Yzerman: Happens.
Hughes: Can I interest you in a winger?

:sarcasm:

Slaf is getting suspended. The league comes down harder when the player gets hurt from the deed.

No chance he escapes this one without sitting out.

Dave Poulin was saying he didn't expect any additional disciplinary action on that hit. It wasn't like Anderson who clearly chased Petro down before nailing him.

That was my gut feeling as well. Injury doesn't measure up to the crime. Anderson's hit was way more violent in terms of distance traveled and aggression.

I'm not so sure injury is a factor into the suspension as much as some fans think it is. They consider it yes and in Anderson's case (if Pietro got hurt), it would have been more than 2 games.

I could be wrong but that's how I see it

I don't think it's black/white like that.

I kept imagining Mike Hoffman's face shooped on A-Hab.
Hoffman busy elsewhere. :sarcasm:

Monty with a shutout and an assist tonight. Dadonov's turn to break the drought. Caufield gets suspended for injuring someone.
Thems are my predictions.

visually stunning GTD.. welldone CHF!!!!

Now... I gotta go check those stats again....

Still can't believe Van has that good a PP!.... Yeah thats why I am double checking.... or i'll tell the Mrs. that is my reason anyways...
Thanks! satisfying to know I had inspired so many into becoming statisticians!

Seems standard this year unless someone does something really egregious.

Last time Slafkovsky was out he came back an improved player. This will give him time to work off ice and watch the game from above without people freaking out that he's not playing.

We have a 3 game home stand right now. We'll see if Montreal calls anyone up.

During the North Division, Horvat killed us in the bumper spot.

Miller, Horvat, Pettersson, Hughes, Boeser/Kuzmenko is a pretty good 1st team PP.

When was the last time we had two players suspended at the same time? Interesting times for sure.

This could be a high scoring affair. Habs can still win this even though Canucks have been playing better of late.

I was expecting Xhekaj to be one of the first Habs players suspended, Not the Habs resident friendly giant.

I think the game will be a highs coring one. Caufield will have a multiple goal game and Pettersson will get a goal and assist.

Also Kent Hughes will run down towards the ice after the Canucks get scored on and yell "who's your Daddy" to quinn Hughes while doing the DX crotch chop.

1st time that I can remember. We're a bigger team this year though with Guhle, Xhekaj, Slafkovsky added to roster, and Edmundson back from injury.
