The fact that he's a rental means more than his cap hit. Rentals don't get that much unless they are stars in which they get a bit more but still not a "Kings Ransom".

I dont think you realize how much a cap strapped team could benefit from his 2 millions salary. Usually rentals have ~5-7 millions in salary, he has 2.

I have a hard time seeing him get more than a 1st, Pacioretty wasn't a rental. Closest thing I could think of is Horvat because the Canucks ate a 4 million cap dump for 2 years to get a 1st+Raty.
