Marchand appears to be stockier than Poitras (he is young still) but I am going to
say Marchand has a bit better peripheral vision than Poitras and that also accounts for more of the shots Poitras gets. Marchand from the corner to the half wall has had his head down plenty but doesn't get clocked as often.
It's worth noting when comparing the 2 that Marchy didn't debut in the NHL until he was 22, and didn't earn a full time spot until the following season at 23. Poitras making the team at 19 means he still has plenty if time to develop the awareness and vision Marchy has.

IMO if Matty wasn't too young for the AHL he would have started in Providence his first season.

Well I'm very happy to see Charlie Coyle come back to life, I was beginning to worry about him. Now he's got 2 linemates he seems to gel with (Zacha & Brazeau) plus he went back to "his" game- possession instead of passing the puck. He really looked like he was having fun out there and man that goal he scored was just absolutely sick.

It was so fun to see him shine last night. I was happy for him!

He also has an innate sense of trouble coming. He did it last night at the end of the game, chasing a puck behind the Kraken empty net. Somebody had him lined up and I cringed, yet Marchy knew and slipped by. Has done it all the time over his career.

It's actually amazing. Given all the hate he's stirred up, he clearly clearly clearly has dished out way more big hits than received them. I can't even count him taking as many as Poitras has already (f*** you PK Subban by the way -- that one I remember).

It's part of Marchand's game.

All the guys that play that "game within game" border line style are always aware of trouble. They are trouble.

Poitras doesn't have that. He plays it straight. He's not looking for trouble so he's not aware of it either. He'll learn the hard way. But I can't see him ever being at a Marchand level of awareness without sacrificing too much of what makes him a good player.

Maybe with his head down, but Poitras is a great passer because he has fantastic vision. “Eyes in the back of his head” and all that. Problem is he often has his head down staring at the puck on his stick. That’s what he has to improve on.

Good 2 days for the Bruins system and the goalies benefited the same whether you're paid 66 million or 10 million. Definitely need better rankings than 38th in the league though from a starter

LOL now that Mac Jones is no longer a part of Boston sports, it appears you set your sites on Swayman as your new most hated player

Like Gretzky did he skates bent over at the waist with his head down but with his eyes up. As you said he sees the ice very well. I think he gets nailed because he tries holding onto the puck to make plays like he always has but its not working (yet). Hopefully as he matures and develops we'll notice more and more of those plays working out.

Well at least they didn't cave to pay debrusk. Overpaying can cripple a team if they aren't worth the money. Spend big money if you know the player is elite and has the resume

Agreed. BUT, right now this team needs glue. And if standing up and beating on a guy like Larsson helps solidify that glue, then I'm all for it.

I don't like the trend in the League that says everytime you throw a big hit you have to fight. It's bullshit. BUT, if that's the way it goes, then I see no reason for the Bruins to stand on principle. Show the smaller rookie you have his back (plus, according to yesterday's broadcast they are definitely working with Poitras on this issue) and pound away. Let some other team be the poster boys for change.
Agreed with all what you said.

Matty P. should work with Brad. Marchy isn't a big guy but strong as hell.
They don't have the same..... snarl though. I don't know if you can learn this. Hopefully yes. The kid is good, seem to be a good person, but I have doubt he might get severely hurt at one point.

So 132 games with a 2.34 GAA / .919 SV% / 12 SO isn't enough of a resume.....but 9 games is enough to constantly complain about Swayman and find ways to bring up his contract.

Coyle legit should have had 4 goals

Im a Sacco Magic guy and am pissed at Monty for games 5 & 6 but I believe he’s a great guy and been following him since U Maine thru his playing and college coaching career

I’m very happy for him this weekend - hopefully they can play rest of season with a sub 2.50 GAA
