Every single player on the ice was behind the play that whole shift. They shouldn't have been out there.
Oh I agree. I don’t think they were exhausted though. They just… stunk, hence my post about calling a TO to rest our few good players.

Man, big picture if the Sharks lose 2-1, you're probably not upset. Vancouver is a much better team; Sharks gave it their all so take the moral victory.

But that last minute changes the narrative.

Don't get the lack of urgency in their own end in the final 10 minutes. The change that led to the DeBrusk goal was atrocious. And after getting the goal from Granlund to tie the game they pretty much chased the puck in their own end with Walman not getting anyone.

Has that been their issue most of the year? Hard to fault Blackwood on either of the goals.

Time to reconsider which players you put out at the end of periods when you want to be defensively responsible.
Agreed. I really don't like this "penalty kill at even strength" thing that Warso seems to do at the end of periods. Always seem to get caved in, wonder why? He can't lay "sitting back on your heels" on the players when he puts those lineups out. Keep the lines rolling!
There’s like 2 rookies on the team. Enough of this “learning experience” crap.
Rookie coach, two <10 game rookies, a bunch of dudes <25... Yes, it can be a learning experience, it's okay.

Positives:
+Played them tough most of the game! Held our own against a far superior team. Actually looked like pretty good hockey in the first two periods.
+Until the bad Smith dump->bad change->post->quick regroup->goal, I could honestly say that everyone was having a pretty decent game.
- Unfortunately, that goal starts with Smith not getting the puck deep on a lazy soft chip. In close games, small mistakes can make the difference. Otherwise he had a decent game - so creative, creates scoring chances with a high percent of puck touches, and actually had some good puck battle wins. A couple nice chances for him too with dangerous shots.
+ I'm not sure where the Lily negativity is coming from, I thought he stepped in pretty cleanly to the team, got pucks out of the zone, and had a few good shots on goal and crisp passes in OZ.
+ Thought we earned a point but happy not to get one in the end - at least we played them close before throwing the point away!

Neutral/Negatives:
- Small mistake by Smith, horrific line change by seemingly everyone else, paid the price on a quick regroup by VAN.
- Warso mixing up lines that were working pretty damn well in order to PK at 5v5. Almost caused issues in the first or second, definitely lost us the point in the third.
+/- Cardwell looked okay but also doesn't yet look dangerous enough to really help a second line push for goals. Probably, for now, best suited in a bottom 6 role but far more dangerous for grimy goal creating in that role than most of our other bottom 6 players
+/- thought Gush looked pretty good on the 4th tonight - had some great moments, some miscues, probably for now put him back on Wenny's wing but longer term I have slightly more faith in Cardwell in the lineup.
- hard to blame the loss on Blackie, looked great most of the game, but a bummer when beaten twice glove side high.
- oh man, that Zetterlund last second chance would have been an all timer. Oh well. Take the L!

I saw Gush lay the body a bit more and I was so thrilled to see that. He's becoming a tougher player to play against. But yeah, Cardwell > Gushchin for sure right now.

Rookie coach,
He’s not playing. He outsmarted himself and played under the impression Vancouver was just gonna coast til OT even though our top line was just out there for the tying goal and we were going to play lower line guys. Even if van pressed (like they did), not having your best blocking defender out there was criminal. He’s been around coaching to know better. Common sense isn’t based on experience.

Warso gets burned once again, where he just worries about holding a lead/getting to OT where he relies on the “defensive” veteran forwards in Kunin, Goodrow and even puts Rutta out there. Hopefully he learns from these experiences because that is two very obvious moments where it has burned the team. As others have stated Warso should have called a time out to give the guys that worked their asses off to get us back in the game a rest and reward them the shift to finish the game out. Its not like Granlund and Eklund are not defensively responsible, they both play on our PK. Mind boggling stuff.

I feel for Granlund, the dude must have been feeling on top of the world and then you get to watch the team blow your hard work the next minute.

There's zero reason to think putting Ferraro out there instead of Walman would have resulted in a different outcome. We simply don't have any good defensemen and that's not Warso's fault.

If Wallman didn’t just play a 90 second shift maybe i agree. If we’re gonna get inevitably pinned in our own zone with vastly inferior talent compared to the other team then I’d rather the guy with a knack for blocking key shots putting his face on the line than Jake.

I'm less concerned with Walman vs Ferraro and more concerned about putting out a new line of PKers who haven't taken a shift together yet and hoping they PK us to victory/OT in this case. I would have rather seen literally any of the four regular lines out there. Just not sure why he thinks this approach is a good idea.

Toffoli is on HNIC After Hours and they just showed a vacation pic of him and his wife and she only comes up to his armpit.

Me: "Geez, do I just not remember him being 6'4 or something?"

*goes to Hockeydb. Toffoli is 6'0 even*

"Huh, she's just tiny."
