I don’t recall being able to watch every game back then and having to pay for a million various streaming services. It was one cable bill that’s it.

Back then we typically had 60-70 games available between the National games and regional games. That was why the PPV even started was to fill those gaps, which then got filled by Sportsnet Plus and such.

It’s a dumb point though because it may have been one cable bill but that bill had different packages you needed to buy. So at the end of the day you still paying for different stuff you didn’t want to get something you did.

You can get all the streaming services in one bill today too. Telus offers packages with your cellphone they bundles streaming services.

You were still dealing with one company in order to do so.

You cant argue that is getting more expensive and more complex for fans to watch the games with streaming.

I dont do Telus so maybe it's different with them. Do they have the Center Ice package? Curious because if it's easier to do with Telus I might switch when we move into our new home. We use Bell for cell and we have satellite for the Center Ice package. I dont care who I deal with, I just want quick, easy and clean, and my Center Ice package lol.

I had the NHL Network up here on satellite and at my place in the USA and never had to use PPV.

with regards to Telus I guess it varies by province. I’m in Ontario and Sportsnet plus isn’t including. I was more or less alluding to net flux Disney amazon and crave.

Here in the Canada the nhl network never showed games. It was a waste of channel

Except some people don’t think hes healed from last year lol. Whether he is or not, I don’t know. Maybe hes just starting to decline.

It feels like the “issues” this and last season are somewhat mental (trying to hard to set up teammates for example). When he’s “on” and not forcing plays he’s still performing at peak levels IMO. Maybe he has some nagging injury affecting his shot but it doesn’t seem quite it either

NHL Network sucked because it was basically a low rent NHL propaganda channel. Production value was low rent, and pointed criticism wasn't a part of any analysis.

Yeah I don’t really know what to make of his game this year either. I think hes always had issues with trying to get teammates goals and deferring too much.

But his speed, shot and stick handling all seem a bit off.

You got NHL Live which I watched everyday. It was awesome. I was in the USA a lot and watched all the games on that and up here on Bell Center Ice. Either way I am an old fart and dont want to change my well ingrained viewing habits lol.

You can buy all the streaming services via Apple as well as SN+ so maybe the thing is to just do it all via Apple.

You seem grumpy today....

I loved it, jumping game to game and getting every highlight and every fight. Was great. Dont need pointed criticism from talking heads anyway, there is enough of that on here for my fill

They actually showed fights and physical contact?

I can't watch NHL produced game recaps because they are so petrified of legal liability that they don't show any fights or massive hits.

Hard to say on shot because we've seen so little of it, but his puck play has just been bad all around. Poor handling, poor passing decisions, missed passes, soft passes, etc, etc. Never seen him sift so many soft, risky area passes to nowhere that result in bad turnovers as he has to start the year.

I feel like this is more of a mental issue than physical, but I could be wrong. The decision making has simply been poor, and a lot of the time I feel like he's been skating himself into poor position, then just turning it over because there isn't really another option.

Mcdavid did say he used up too much energy to start the year last season and then got tired. I’m almost seeing it as he’s trying to pace himself better. It just looks worse because the team had been struggling so much offensively. The entire team was snake bitten. Lol

Agreed.

To echo what I said in the BOA PGT last night, I hope this time off gives McDavid the space to get out of his own head and unwind a little. Hopefully Knob has enough rapport with him to recognize this and give him some tough love as needed.

Yes, it's good that McDavid is competitive. Yes, he hustles. But hustle without composure is like repeatedly flooring the gas when your car is firmly stuck in the Edmonton snow.

One sequence that kind of optimized his play this year was the OT against the Flyers. He lead the rush to win the game, and hustled on the back check to do it, but the only reason there was a back check required at all was due to an incredibly poorly thought out and risky pass that sent the Flyers the other way. Believe there were two of those from him in that short amount of time before the OT ended.

Watching him this year there has been way more panic thought of "NOOOO DON'T DO THAT!" when you see him about to telegraph a bad play than ever before. To me that's mental.

Can anybody remember the last Oiler game that wasn’t available on regular tv? I can’t. Probably have to go back to the days of the $8 pay-per-views and I can’t remember off the top of my head exactly when that was.
Yes, I believe it was the PPV's back in the Cup run season and I bought them lol

Give Mcdavid all the time off he needs and then some. The players seems to play harder and more responsible when they know they can't rely on him to save the day. Drai is looking great and is skating, which he wasn't the first few games. Mcdavid looked tired to start the year, probably from a short summer leading right up to his wedding, probably didn't get much time to rest/recover/train for an 82 game season. Let him come back rested and fully healthy, the team can stay afloat until then.

I personally just see this as another obstacle for NHL fans. Not sure how you are suppose to get new viewers when you do this crap.
They probably do their research. A TON of people have Amazon Prime and use Amazon. Then you just get Prime Video for free.
