Coach hates himThis is hockey. Kids have to be perfect, vets not so much
See I completely disagree with that. This team is not Tampa where it can say the regular season doesn't matter We just have to get into the playoffs. They haven't won and they have an established the ability to do that. They had a great run last year but again it seems like people around here have it in their head that the challenge will start at the conference finals and it's just a matter of getting past the conference finals now. It's going to be harder to get to the conference finals this year again than it was to get there last year and I know the initial reaction will be that it's impossible because they had to win two game sevens, but they were a team that benefited from a tremendous amount of puck luck in the playoffs and some other breaks with key injuries to their opponents. I'm not making that to be an excuse, but the point is that it was a struggle last year just to get to the conference finals. It's not going to be any easier this year and if anything it'll be harder since other teams are prepared for us. Sleep walking through the regular season with an attitude as if these games don't matter is a horrific precedent to set especially with the glaring lack of depth in this roster and the fact that there are many players that need to take steps forward to establish themselves during this regular season. They will happen. Both our PP and goaltending have world-class talent.
These games mean absolutely nothing. Just make the playoffs. Doesn't matter if it's as a wildcard. Half the teams make it - it's not hard.
Beyond that, this is a preseason.
