How is it that every breakout starts with an errant pass, a bobbled puck, a puck in the skates. It's hard to understand.

Part of the reason they are slow is because they don't move the puck at a high level.

They don't move the puck at a high level because they can't skate.
We look bad. Disjointed. Nobody really looks good and definitely nobody looks good together. None of the forwards seem to know their roles. They half commit on the forecheck, on the rush, on the pinch. It’s really poor hockey.

Why is it such a big deal that Fox plays half the period? Top (Norris caliber and even below) defensemen routinely put up 25+ minute nights. Hell, 18 year old Jay Bouwmeester on the Panthers used to put up 30 minute games regularly. 
Guessing Jones is done for the night.

They don't skate. That's the difference.
You don't need to skate fast to move the puck effectively. You need to move with a purpose within some form of structure.
For the most part it's people standing around staring at the puck. No one should ever be standing still
