In fairness to Nill, the team he assembled last season, with the addition of Tanev, was about as deep a team as you could realistically ask for in a cap world- had Vegas not been their first round matchup, things could have very well turned out a lot differently. In some ways, he has failed to secure the defense. Looked at another way, a top 3 of Heiskanen, Harley, and Lindell should be good enough a lot of the time- though the inability to secure another RD has always been the big issue. To be fair, I don’t know that those grow on trees.
I’m interested to see how Nill adjusts this season.
