So, we outshoot the opposition 40-14 and lose.

When was the last time we get outshot like that and win?

As an Oiler fan I can say your team totally deserved the win tonight. The Oil played like crap, and if not for the heroics of our goaltender, you guys would have slaughtered us.

Good luck the rest of the season.:handclap:

(P.S. I have a total man crush on Umberger. That power move/goal today was sick!:amazed:)

So in the past few days all the talk is about getting Niki and his amazing shot back for the PP, then he goes out and oversees the worst single game PP performance in Jackets history.

We had like 15 shots on the PP with great chances and consistently held it in their zone putting a bunch of preesure on. I'll take this worst PP performance every game.

RNH=Scott Gomez :sarcasm:. Last time he scored a goal on March 16th 2012. He can't score for 22 games in a row now. What a terrific offensive talent!

Unlike the sometimes incompetent folks at FSO, the EDM broadcast crew went back and explained what was going on.

Agreed. An explanation was in line and they gave nothing. They just talked about penalties, that's it. Thanks for that though.

Goals were also in line tonight, nothing given there either

Oh, I am not complaining about BOB. he played well. Costly turnovers hurt us tonight, as well as our inability to score.

I love how how shooters consistently hit the chest of the opposing goaltender. You are correct my friend, ZERO offensive talent

40 shots I wonder how many were scoring chances? Dub was good in net but many of the shots were right at him.

Tough one to stomach. Still, the scoreboard don't lie - a good team buries some of those chances and the Jackets just don't have many snipers. Getting Atkinson back will help a little, but this team has little chance of winning when Wiz plays like that and gifts other teams two goals. I expect a thorough ass-kicking from the Sharks tomorrow night and poor Mase will bear the brunt.

If there ever is an encouraging loss I guess that was it. We played well, got a break from the officials (I think on the goal not given to the Oilers), etc. We ran into a goaltender that was awesome tonight.
Bob played well. RJ finally got his goal (and it was a nice one). Wiz had a bad game.

THat being said we're finding ways to lose, but at least as far as intensity they looked more engaged for almost the whole game.

You guys deserved 2 points there. You played us out of the rink and we got lucky. Really feel bad for you guys. Played some good hockey.

Although RJ scored, I think he still sucked badly. Specially during the last few minutes, he gave away the puck along the boards like he was giving out water on the desert

JJ wasn't very good during crunch time, either.

Did Letestu get hurt? I thought I watched the whole game but don't remember hearing his name called?

I don't know if you could tell on TV or anywhere else in the arena, but damn RJs teammates were happy for him. Based on his on-ice performance, I was questioning his role on the team. It's obvious his teammates love him, which may explain why he continues to get opportunity after opportunity. Good for him. However, save the goal, he was still not very good.

That said, he was better than Nikitin, who looked slow and weak, snd Prospal, who is looking old.

And I'm going to say that Jack Johnson is not playing as well s we think he is, or thought he was, or we're giving him credit for based on his reputation (since arriving here). His delay on what should have been a one-timer cost a better scoring chance, and what the hell was he doing on the shorty? Those plays were the lowlights of a lackluster performance.

Soul-sucking. That's what all of this is (compartmentalizing, of course).

This was a gift wrapped game to grab for the Jackets tonight. Almost every race to pucks, digging pucks out of scrums went the Jackets way. Passing was for the most part semi competent tonight. Pucks were following us tonight. Oilers were gassed after half of the first was played. Dubnyk was coughing up rebounds into the slot all night.

I had to laugh when Wiz started to pinch on the boards, everyone knew what was going to happen and it did.

So many chances, so little finish. Deep down this is no surprise, it is just more knife twisting in all of our hockey souls.:shakehead

This remains perhaps the most confounding thing to me, the team's inability to bang home rebounds.

Oh, and how they almost never shoot for the far post when coming down the wing, which could lead to a rebound to the other side where another winger might have an open net.

They might be shooting at the far post for all we know. No one can hit the net...

Excellent post DSL. I've been thinking this for awhile myself. I'd rather see him play less and play better.

i disagree with both of you and I have no idea what's excellent about that post. .
JJ looked out of pace a few times , but overall him and Nikitin had a good game. They killed like a 100 Edmonton rushes and all what you've noticed is a couple of unperfect moves.
Nikitin is slow? Which Nikitin you've been watching for the past couple years? He's never been a good skater. And never will be. But he always make right plays at the right time. He might not execute them perfectly, but he knows what he is doing on the ice for 25 minutes.
And Johnson was just a victim of Wiz's shape. Also I have no idea what you were thinking of him, but he was playing a decent game. That one-timer was hard to execute as well, you could see it.
