Jim Montgomery: "We didn't have a game plan for practice"
Or when they do practice perhaps “not a great practice. the invisible opponent wanted it more. We started slow and never got our legs under us. It’s about attention to detail and competing. Practice was just better than we were today.”

Hmmmm

The two loses to Florida .
.The olayers realized they are not good enough to beat them.
Once we got dusted and they didn't have Bark or Thaxhuckxkckck on home ice.

The psychology of his team I think is defeated.

I think they need to make a seismic move. Firing Monty doesn't move the needle.
This is a very good possibility. Lost to them in playoffs after historic season. Lost to them again last year albeit with less expectations perhaps. Added what they thought was the needed toughness and a legit center and lose twice this year.

Hard to stay positive when your nemesis is better and the gap feels like it may be growing….and hell, they can’t even exact physical revenge because the Panthers refuse to engage or be held accountable.

Meanwhile the Panthers are but one of the very good teams in the east. And your captain seems to not be himself all the while. Bad vibes are totally understandable.

Just think they are playing this way and they are healthy. What happens when injuries start to mount. Yikes.
I hear you.I have already embraced the tank. This organization has to start refilling the pipeline with top talent.Only 2 pts out of dead last in the entire NHL.A 1st overall pick would be way better then anything else outside Cup win and I would not wager 1 dollar on that.

The cancelled practice seems fishy. Maybe it is just a rest day based on performance data, but that sounds like something you say to defuse media speculation. I don't think they sack Monty today, but there may be some meetings and such going on that are not good.

I think they just don’t mesh in that the D and forwards are not the type that can work together. I know that sounds so stupid, but just because you’re a forward doesn’t mean you’ll play with anyone and have it work. Those two big off season FA signings aren’t turning out to be good at all. Monty will pay in the end but Donny has to be getting some heat at some point. As others have said they aren’t showing progress even if they lose. That’s what even worse now, losing is one thing but they are no better now in any area of the game vs game 1 vs FLA.
It’s almost as though putting those ridiculous lines together was a bad idea
Remember game 5 against the Panthers in 23? Bergeron comes back into line up so Monty blows up the lines AND separates Marchand and Bergeron! For like 6 minutes, at which point he abandons his well thought out plan and changes them all again. B's lost that game and the next two. Out.

Honestly don't blame sway much yet. He deserved a good contract, he is a damn good goalie, the defence sucks, forwards suck, always on the penalty kill. Get back to where they can be and play tight in front of him and he will be fine. Everything is just a mess

Tell me any goalie who would have a good record behind this group? Seriously! Carlo is even firing pucks at him

Since we don't really know what's going on, I'll throw this out there: maybe it is the room, and the reason it never really became this dysfunctional before now was Bergeron. I am not saying Brad is necessarily a poor captain, but Bergeron was pretty much exceptional in every way. Last season his presence was probably still felt and fresh. Now there's some distance and whatever issues or problems that exist are out in the open and not being dealt with. I don't know, just throwing that out there. It's hard to explain how a team that is basically unchanged from last season in terms of its core falls off a cliff like this so many of them performing poorly.
It’s hard for me to believe that Bergeron’s absence hasn’t impacted the team. Like you said, not that other guys aren’t good teammates or capable leaders (and while I will always question them, I’m not in the room so I’ll never know)…Bergeron was just that much better.

Swayman certainly needs to be better. With that said the bruins have spent the 2nd highest penalty kill TOI this year and are tied for first with most PK goals allowed.

The odds to make the playoffs when you are among the league leaders in penalty kill minutes are slim.

Imagine Don Cherry or Mike Keenan being told, you can't practice, you'll break them even more!
The touchy, feely era of Bruins hockey has begun. Maybe, they'll start handing out mini Stanley Cup for participation in the PO's.:sarcasm:
During the LAK intermission I almost threw up during the interview on the jumbotron with Carlo about how special it was to score a goal after he had a kid in a series we lost. Ridiculous drool to make the fanbase sap up it's pro hockey not MTV jersey shore.

We lose to that team 2 years in a row and I'm supposed to be happy that Carlo scored a goal?

I'm not sure if there's much correlation there. 3 out of the top 5 in PK minutes made the playoffs last year, including the Panthers at #2 who won the Cup.

Changes other than roster players . . .

John McLean comes in as player development and skating and skills coach
Joe Sacco promoted to "associate" coach - this is a promotion?
Jay Leach comes back to the org as assistant coach focusing on the defense

Too early to evaluate here?

I've felt since Game 1 that Potsy should cut his teeth for a bit in Prov and Lysell should be up. Now Lysell is hurt.
That shift where Mason and Potsy were both getting manhandled in the D-zone resulting in a goal is one of many troubling issues. How do the coaches protect their vulnerabilities?

Mason needs a consistent pairing with clear expectations and roles (Leach?)

The Monty predictability statement . . .these are professional athletes! Regardless of linemates there are low and basic Hockey IQ positioning and expectations that are not being executed. Pee-wee stuff.

Bottom line - Ullmark and Sway masked many a wart for two years. Now, an .894 save percentage gets this lot several ping pong balls in the lottery
