Honestly don't blame sway much yet. He deserved a good contract, he is a damn good goalie, the defence sucks, forwards suck, always on the penalty kill. Get back to where they can be and play tight in front of him and he will be fine. Everything is just a mess
No, can't blame Sway. But......he's a damn good goalie as long as the Bs are playing that locked down game in front of him.
Looks like when they aren't.....he's nothing special.
Let's wait and see.

I'm not sure if there's much correlation there. 3 out of the top 5 in PK minutes made the playoffs last year, including the Panthers at #2 who won the Cup.

I’m not sure looking at one season for correlation is going to get you any answers either.

Usually the more penalty kill time the more goals allowed. Of the top 5 teams in penalty kill goals against none made the playoffs.

Right now the bruins are tied for most in the league.

But there would obviously be exceptions like teams that have really good power plays and also draw a lot of penalties even if they commit a lot too.

No goalie is gonna look too good when 4 out of 5 of your own guys are behind the net chasing ONE guy

Swayman sure doesn't look like anything special for a $66 million dollar goalie, but not only did he miss training camp and pre-season games, but I think he also misses his buddy Linus

I'm hoping he will round into form after Monty gets canned and his team mates start earning their paychecks ...but I honestly don't know if they can turn this around, or will be the new San Jose Sharks

Bruins went to the Finals in 2019 being the third most penalized team in the league ( 3 out of the top 5 in PIMS made the playoffs that year as well ).

2020 and 2021, the Lightning won the Cup back to back being the 1st and third most penalized team in the league ( 3 out of the top 5 in PIMs made the playoffs in each of those years. Bruins were 6th and 5th those year )

2022, the Lightning made the SCF being the 2nd most penalized team again. ( 3 out of the top 5 in PMS made the playoffs again. Bruins were 8th )

2023, the Panthers made the SCF being the 2nd most penalized team in the league ( 2 out of the top 5 in PIMs made the playoffs that year. Bruins were 8th )

2024, the Panthers won the Cup being the most penalized team in the league ( 3 out of the top 5 in PIMS made the playoffs that year. Bruins were 13th ).

Not seeing the correlation here. Teams can and have gotten away with bleeding penalty minutes and make the playoffs ( and do well ). Definitely would rather see them stay out of the box then be in it and the PK has been atrocious.

I’m not talking about PIMs I’m talking about PK minutes and PK goals allowed.

A lot of teams who fight a lot will have high PIMs but that’s a 5 minute major and not a penalty kill.

Bruins are 2nd in PK TOI and tied for first in PK goals allowed. I’m sure that’s not a winning recipe.

Also a lot more than 5 teams make the playoffs so I have no clue why you are using top 5, but I would imagine it’s because you looked and the numbers get worse so you stopped at 5

I'm using top 5 because you said that the teams who are the among the leaders in penalty kill minutes have slim chances to make the playoffs. Top 5 to me would be among the leaders. If we were to do a top 10, there would be more, in some cases half the teams. But sticking with top 5, these are the SH TOI leaders

2019 - Two of the top 5 teams in SH TOI made the playoffs ( 1st and 3rd )

2020 - Three of the top 5 teams in SH TOI made the playoffs ( 1st, 2nd, 4th )

2021 - Three of the top 5 teams in SH TOI made the playoffs ( 2nd, 4th, 5th )

2022 - Four of the top 5 teams in SH TOI made the playoffs ( 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th )

2023 - Two out of the top 5 teams in SH TOI made the playoffs ( 3rd and 4th )

2024 - Three out of the top 5 teams in SH TOI made the playoffs ( 2nd, 4th, 5th )

Again, no correlation here.

Yea. Concerning for sure. Doesn't feel like just "a slump" . Thought they were gonna lose last night. But was absolutely sure of it 5 minutes in.
It could have been double digits but the Canes actually appeared to put the guns away and coast to the win. yikes!
Wake up call? Might be better than 2-1 loss.
Can't recall the Bs blue lime ever looking this below average. They really don't even look like they have a top pair. And Charlie ain't the guy for first unit powerplay.
poweplay.

You keep bagging on McAvoy, what about the other 4 stiffs that are on the power play?

Hard to be creative when everyone is standing still, There is a reason we lose pucks at the blue line and just about every board battle, even while having more players on the ice.

Soft lazy forwards,

Mason looked even worse,

This team has no clue on the power play, how many times Pasta puts the point man in a tough situation, it's like the point man need to concentrate on the upcoming turnover from him.

Take Pasta of the power play first unit, start there. go with two dmen.

There was a point in the game where H. Lindholm had the puck behind the Bruins net and had nowhere to go with it, so he just stood there while the forchecker was in front of the net. That play and the Lohrei getting torched by a single forechecker made the D look bad but at the same time I was wondering where the support forwards were. No outlet pass for the D to move the puck because they forwards are not working to get open or simply not fast enough TO get open.

That is an interesting question.

We all seem to feel there is a difference by the team play and results.... but no one can answer that question. Not even sure, Monty or Boston management can.
Dumb penalties and last night brutal PK. That's one of the biggest differences from last year.

I hear you.I have already embraced the tank. This organization has to start refilling the pipeline with top talent.Only 2 pts out of dead last in the entire NHL.A 1st overall pick would be way better then anything else outside Cup win and I would not wager 1 dollar on that.
You will be here with the rest of us cheering the Bruins on especially during the late night games. Embrace the tank ? I don’t think so . 😂
