Being in the same draft class has zero impact on his next contract, I'm wondering where you got the idea that Skinner will ask for something similar. Is it only fan speculation or is there proof somewhere?
Speculation based on making the finals, all star game, number of wins, etc. He's got the perfect comparables now with Swayman and Oettinger when it comes time to negotiate, but he isn't as good.

GAA is more of a team stat. Regardless, none of his stats scream "superstar", and he has those mechanics issues that aren't getting any better. His lateral movement is a real issue.

So when Skinner has good numbers it's because of the team and Skinner gets no credit.

When Skinner has bad numbers it's all Skinner's fault and not the team playing poorly. Got it.

Also nobody said Skinner was a superstar. He's an average starting goalie. There's only 5-7 superstar goalies in the league. Unless you're the Rangers, Jets, Lightning, Islanders, ect you have at best an average starter in goal.

Expecting every goalie to perform like Hellebuyck or Shesterkin is unrealistic. Skinner is a capable NHL starting goaltender.

No, it's best to not rely to heavily on goalie numbers at all. It's best to look at skills and overall ability. A lot of goalie success AND failure is because of the team in front of him.

Skinner at his best, is a capable starting goalie with some glaring weaknesses. But he has pretty big consistency issues. A lot of the time, the difference between an NHL goalie and a minor league goalie is consistency. If we can't trust him to not go through major slumps, especially in the middle of the playoffs, then we have a major issue on our hands moving forward, and I believe that type of thing is the difference between him being what he is today, and what we want him to be.

Nobody is expecting Skinner to perform like a superstar. But he has too many nights when he performs like an AHL'er.
