But is there a coach who would be able to reach the Lars Bar? :sarcasm:
I dunno. I imagine it’s something like this atm

That’s not what I’m saying
Ok, and I AM SAYING, the “responsibility” of a hockey playing winger is not the same as a football playing wide receiver.

Actually it might be, and you blame the receiver for not also cutting back into the route and knocking the ball away from the CB/SS. Whatever, the point is that Gaudreau could’ve given WAY more effort on that play to not let the guy get the puck and walk in so easy.

Gaudreau probably didn’t even know the guy was coming. There was nothing he could have done.

He is still adjusting to playing a system that could be described as juggleing-rubiks cubes-in-the-dark-while-solving-them-system, while having a toddler and new teammates that are as clueless as he is :/

And the team put him in that position many times because they are out there playing pond hockey with no structure. Its 60 minutes of a chicken running around with its head cut off. 90% of the comments are sh*tting on the goaltending but the rest of the team isn't getting the anger towards them that they deserve.
I have given much more criticism for the team than goaltending.

However, my patience with Elvis is growing thin as he is really either the unluckiest goalie I have seen or genuinely just bad. It's not only those softies that got in. It's also how he is struggling mightily when doing saves many other goalies can do with keeping composure and not going like "head first" into the situations.

With that game there is no way Columbus win any game even with both Dominik Hasek and Vladislav Tretjak goaltending together, but you could have at least some game going on if you don't let softies in and get 1 bounce to your way.

I was worried about it, and I debated it with others (and myself), but they should have kept Bjorkstrand over Laine.

Laine isn’t a very good hockey player. He’s a fantastic shooter and offensive weapon, with an ability to backcheck, but that’s it. He and Gaudreau have no chemistry. And that’s not likely to change.

Bjorkstrand, not as dangerous in the OZ, is still a good player in his own right. He would have been a perfect fit with Gaudreau considering he would have battled for pucks and got them to Johnny.

I was uneasy but optimistic about Laine. And I don’t think he’s been bad, but he’s more of the same of what we already have (soft, no defense, no checking) with an excellent shot.

Johnny has to be so disappointed in his decision.

He was one of the best.

I get the frustration and disappointment with how the team is doing, but replacing Laine with Bjorkstrand this season wouldn’t move the needle one bit. This team is disorganized, have no battle level, and IMO everything points to the coaching not being up to snuff. Sure, the roster is not the best in the league, but I think a better/more experienced HC could get a lot more of this group of players.

Congrats, That’s like being the tallest ant.
Laine has improved defensively, skating, forechecking/backcheking, play harder. But he will never get rid of his reputation.
EDIT: I'm also disappointed about Bjork's departure. I'd rather trade Gus and Jakub together, giving some draft picks (other than a first rounder)/players, like Marchenko.

I’m surprised by the lack of Playstation jokes. Laine has improved as a player, but the teamplay sucks, and Laine is a part of that team that has a worrying level of suckiness.

I’m clinging to the faint hope that this team will eventually put the pieces together in time to make it to play offs and make some noise as underdogs. Maybe, MAYBE the Finland trip will get them going?

I doubt that Johnny is so short sighted that he regrets his deicision about joining a young team a handful of games into the first season of a long contract. Patience and hard work with this team will pay off :)

The why pile on the tall ants? Björk is also shorter than Laine

Maybe not, but at least I would watch Bjorkstrand and see a player who wants to make a difference.

I’m not calling Laine lazy. I’m calling Laine a bad hockey player
