Rodrigue should be in the net. He’s been this teams goalie at most other international tournaments up until now, played with a lot of these guys at previous tourneys. I guess in Canada’s eyes however being 7ft tall is more important then previous international experience.

He hasn't been good this year. I mean they didn't pick Daws because he is 6'5...He is actually the best goalie in the CHL this year along with Hofer.

GG RUS, CAN is very overrated and without their regular help with hometown refs will not win this tournament. Probably the worst or second worst goaltending tandem in the tournament which will be difficult or impossible to overcome.

Canada will come back, no doubt. An offside goal off a boneheaded turnover and some bullshit penalties combining with terrible goaltending doesn’t change how this Canadian team is vastly superior to Russia.

Russia is opportunistic. So were the Americans. If the refs can stuff their whistles Canada will increasingly begin to dominate with their superior speed and size.

What does McIsaac’s defending have to do with Smith controlling the game every time he steps on the ice? You made a biased comment that was proven incorrect as the Russians scored while Smith was on the ice. I’m not saying it was Smith’s fault, I am saying he sure didn’t control anything on that play.

I'm curious to see what adjustments Hunter makes. I wouldn't be surprised to see Daws not return to start the 2nd for one. They adjusted well when they played the US, expect the same here.

But yeah taking McIsaac who clearly isn't back up to speed yet over Harley seems pretty bad in hindsight.

And as an Avs fan I don't quite understand the Byram hate in here. His hitting hasn't gone as planned to say the least but aside from that he was probably better than atleast 3 other guys on that blueline this period...

Also not really surprising. Russia is pissed off and in desperation mode while Canada is still high after winnign against the USA.

And Canada winning this was always unlikely given their putrid goalies...
