Wow Ottawa did dominate, even better than I thought.
Just stay out of the box, and hopefully the refs call a better next game as well , and don’t fall for some of those sell jobs. Batherson 2 minutes for checking in open ice lol. Oh well on to game 2.

We clearly don't have same definition of dominate... Majority of what they did at 5v5 was when they was trailing by 3 and leafs just protected the lead...

Cup favourite Leaves look to extend their home playoff winning streak to 2 games after going 1-8 in the 9 games prior, or 5-16 in 21 games if you need a bigger sample size to make the first sample seem like an anomaly. Their stellar 1-4 record of the Auston era when hosting game 1 will be put to the test as well and the team has taken great steps to prepare this group of future champions for the inevitable parade planned on the precise date of Jun 17th, 20_%

"We've sequestered the team in the rink since Wednesday and convinced them that the game against Detroit was game 81. A few players stared at the floor in confusion when informed there was still one regular season game left, but we gaslit them by stating we've only played Ottawa 3 out of 4 times this year - what are you stupid?" said a source that refused to go on record.

Some of the players found it odd that the team took all of their electronic devices and forbade any human contact which included their wives and children, but Berube framed this hiatus from life as a "last game of the season team building exercise".

"Being a new coach occasionally gives you some latitude with the players", said Berube. "Professional athletes can be quite simple and detached from reality, so every once in a while we can make up shit like this and they'll believe it. Like if people only knew the true story behind Matthew's mustache, they would be astounded...who in the world could ever think that story was remotely credible? But that's not the focus here and I digress - we need to prepare ourselves for game #82 on 420. We just hope the fans can get with this program tonight by not rattling the players like every other season with the crushing weight and anxiety of their expectations. Venue staff have erected extended signage through the building saying BE COOL and SHHH STFU, so we'll see if they'll comply to help us out for a change."

The Leaves 3-1 end of regular season/Game 1 loss tonight will be broadcast live at 7pm EST

The what now?

Brady is the most overrated player in the league.

For him, his bro, McAvoy and others, the real tournament was the 4 nations. Unfortunately for them, they got hurt and lost.

Otherwise they are pretty good hockey players

The Leafs have been an anti-corsi team all season. There dump and chase, turtle defensively game doesn’t really show well in advanced stats
Yeah i noticed Berube's teams weren't exactly analytics darlings in St Louis either..........That concerns me a bit but if the team wins it's all good ......

For the wussification of the sport, this was about as spicy as it gets these days. Years ago, when it reached a three goal lead, each team would've been trying to send a physical message with hits and fists. That's just not how it's played any more.
No, but that's sad.

You don't have to cheap shot someone, but at least show you actually do give a f***.

It was a stupid play by Stutzle. He should be trying on his skill to get to pucks first and not trying to run guys. He had a terrible game. And hopefully he learned from it. Speed and skill and be on pucks first.

Wasn’t much of a run, finishing his check like he does regularly during the season. It’s not like he is a guy who gets a hit every now and then. Unfortunate to get that called. Defensemen turns last second, what’s a guy to do?

Brady looks like he’s gonna cry worse than he did when Norris was traded
If I’m a Sens fan I’d be worried about Greig. As a Leaf fan I’m also asking WTF was his purpose tonight? Like there’s no way he thought the whole empty net gimmick tough guy stuff was actually going to work in the playoffs??? What a useless bum. What scares the shit out of me is now refs have set a precedent of cross checking a guy in the face is 2 mins. The league… this f***ing league. I swear Leafs will play Florida and Bennett will head hunt and they’ll go back to round 1 to make precedent. Absolute garbage reffing. Bennett is going to take someone’s head off because some wacked out ref decided to be dumb he just controlled everything

Why didn’t Brady take over the game? All week I’ve heard what a playoff warrior he is. Surely he should’ve showed up on the scoresheet at least?
It has been hyped up by both fans and media for sure.

He is obviously injured and hasn't looked the same since the 4 nations tournament.

Don’t stir the pot if you don’t want to lick the spoon. Getting into a scrum and pushing someone is a good way to get punched in the face.

Ottawa looked like they were trying to set a record for most dirty crosschecks in a game. They literally blew the whole game because they preferred to play like selfish clowns and take stupid, stupid penalties. Whatever.

Domi will actually go, Ottawa “tough guys” will not other than Brady but only if it’s against a non fighter. He gets touted as a HW but who has he fought who is one? Not many. Most overrated player.
Domi is a coward never won a fight in his life vs an actual fighter ...just the facts.

Be smarter. Tanev plays an honest game. Hopefully Stutzle learns from tonight. Running around looking for hits isn’t his game. Skill, speed, and first to pucks is when he’s best.

Talking as a Sens fan here - the refs could have handed us 4 back to back powerplays. Maybe throw in a 5 on 3. We still weren't winning that game.

Maybe a beatdown was needed to make them realize the playoffs are different. I hope so?

Leafs brought their F game and won 6-2.

Hopefully they don't develop bad habits in this series as the next series is likely going to actually take effort.

Batherson is probably the stupidest player I have ever seen. Never seen someone take that many dumb, frustration penalties in a playoff game.

Corsi is garbage lol hilarious that some people still use it to push narratives in 2025

Refs were fine, Ottawa players were extremely stupid. Jensen is lucky he didn't get called for anything either, there was a sequence where he cross checked a Leaf like 5 times in a row, but they had just been penalized so the refs let it go.

Really dumb/inexperienced Senators team, and it showed.

I mean Ottawa controlled the first, outside of two moments Toronto created two odd man rushes. That carried over to the second until the “boarding” penalty and then Toronto took control on the score board. Credit to them for executing but it’s one of those games where things went their way and they can’t expect to win a series like they won game 1.

They could put their skates on the wrong foot, play with the wrong handed sticks, it won’t matter as long as playoff Ullmark shows up again.

The last time Ullmark started a series, as soon as his team faced elimination they switched goalies, but it was too late.

Maybe Ottawa will do the same?
