Pretty standard game 1 stuff. Refs want to “send a message” that they’re not going to allow any funny business. But we all know by like mid game 3 there will be funny business aplenty. By game 5 there will be no rules.

Ottawa will sneak out a win to take it to 5 games in a best-case scenario. They are going to keep taking a bunch of penalties because that is what inexperienced teams tend to do, and Toronto's power play will decimate them. But Ottawa will be a better team for it next season. Mind you, they desperately need an upgrade in net. Ullmark is never going to be the guy.

The Tavares & Matthews penalty calls were blatant.

Sens are shell shocked though. This is leafs vs Boston 2018 with them trying to be overly physical and impose their will on a bigger and favored team and they are just playing undisiplined and lazy.

Ullmark being a sieve is a blessing too
