You keep believing that if it makes you sleep better..........giving up 2 goals in 15 seconds in the last 90 seconds and having it cost the Stanley Cup........yeah not nearly as bad as a first round loss.:laugh::laugh:

As a Bruins fan, those 2 goals at the end of the 3rd in game 6 will haunt me a long time.

Game 7 would've been a toss up with how both teams were playing.

I'd rather lose game 7 in the first round in any embarrassing fashion you can imagine. You still have 3 more rounds to win if you win/lose.

But game 6 of the final, a series that was evenly matched all the way? That's possibly another 60 minutes away from a cup.

Now that it's all agreed that the Leafs had the ultimate choke job in 2013 against the Bruins and that they didn't recover greatly from it with 3 straight DNQ, back to our series.

Leafs are no doubt the underdog but they have scored the 1st goal a lot this year. It can give them a chance to not get swept. But unlike the Bruins who are the best team in the NHL after allowing the 1st goal, the Leafs are not very good with only 10 wins in 32 games it happened.

1st goal is very important for the Leafs.

I think Dermott could take over Gardiners spot as early as next year. He would this year if he wasnt a rookie IMO.
No need. Rielly-Gardiner and Rielly-Dermott has looked beautiful in very limited minutes, we've got our other top pair D just waiting to be put on the right side

Nice try but the Leafs loss in 2013 is the ultimate choke job.

They had the chance to win their first playoffs series since 03-04 (still looking for that...) and choked the way no other team in history has, giving up a 3 goals lead with less than 10 minutes to go in the 3rd.
Take the Cup win out of it. Impressive, sure, but irrelevant to the whole "choke" conversation.

Sure, the Leafs choked. They were also heavy underdogs in a first-round series that almost everyone picked the Bruins to win.

The Bruins? Not only a 3-0 series lead, but a 3-0 lead in Game 7, on home ice, against a lower seed. Probably the biggest overall choke in the history of hockey.

Winning the Cup the next year probably took the sting out of it, sure, but does not change the fact the Bruins still own the biggest choke job ever.

I know one thing will be true after this series is over. considering both teams have complained all year in many threads there is a conspiracy vs them by the refs and/or nhl......one team will be wrong after this series. Not sure I’ve ever watched two teams play vs each that both think so strongly they get screwed over by the refs & Nhl over an entire season. Should be fun to watch/read.
Well had you checked any main board GDT throughout the year, regardless of which of the 31 teams were active you would have. It was one of the safest bets ever.

This is the truth, plain and simple. 3 games >>>>> 3 goals -- only Bruins fans would argue otherwise.

Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.

Bruins (4th seed) - 28-14-3-3- 62 pts.

Leafs (5th seed) 26-17-0-5 - 57 pts.

Not exactly a massive gap. Were the Bruins the favorites to win that series, yup.

But let's not act like the Leafs that season were some poor Cinderella team that just squeeked into the playoffs.

If you do remember back to that team, Toronto was playing like garbage, their possession stats were horrible and they were giving up historically bad scoring chances.

Bruins were heavy favourites at that time.

If that season went 82 games there would have been a strong chance the Leafs missed the playoffs.

I mean if you actually remember the narrative from when the series was going on nobody gave the Leafs any chance at all. People didn't believe in that Leafs teams record because of the shortened season and facing off against a team a couple years off a cup win? Yeah nobody gave the Leafs a chance. You can act like that wasn't the case but you will be wrong.

I'm looking forward to this.
These two clubs, with all the kids on both sides, could be facing each other for a few years.
All the while the Habs sink like the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Whats not to like?

So I wish good luck to all the old BWO guys.....you know who you are.

:thumbu:
I forgot all about that. Remember the seizure inducing avatars we had?

Best of luck to you too Wally and the other good ole boys n girls from back in the day.

The Leafs were heavy underdogs. It was a shortened season, and it was their first playoff appearance in a decade.

if that season went to 82 games the leafs would have choked it away like they did the year before and after
