Pretty good first period but we looked pretty nervous/tentative. I'm feeling a big 2nd period.

It kind of makes sense if you have other players to make up for his scoring. NOBODY on this team can score 30 besides him and Pacioretty.

That says even more about what Julien thinks of his all around game, Julien isn't stupid. I'm not the biggest Julien fan but he knows the team lacks scoring, he legitimately believes the negatives at least weigh the same as the positives if not slightly outweigh them at 5 on 5.

I'm not even saying he's right but **** man, it's 2 coaches and the u-23 team now. There's something he's just not getting.

Would have been an encouraging period (despite being down 1-0) but those 2 powerplays were more like momentum killers.

That boarding on Gallagher at the end of the period would have been a penalty if it was anyone else and if we didn't just come off back-to-back PPs.

Lack of effort hasn't been the problem for Habs teams the past few seasons for the most part. Lack of skill which leads to a lack of offense and an awful PP is.

And yet what does Bergevin harp on and continually go out and acquire? More effort and grinding of course. Effort, effort, effort and grind, grind, grind wins Cups eh MB? He seems to ignore that on top of all the foot soldier work the Kings & Blackhawks actually had elite talent. Something we lack big time. Our GM's biggest priority was to draft and develop it but what have we got to show for it? A disaster at the AHL level with few prospects turned into NHL'ers. Fault lies in the coaching style and who was hired IMO. Plus our most talented prospect to come down the pipeline since Price (Chucky) is reduced to winger on the 4th line while we are starved for offence. And speculation is he'll be dealt but with this, what exactly will his value be? Some team can get him out there for a fair price and work on developing his game outside of a pressure cooker like Montreal. I know a lot want a tear-down and rebuild but if Bergy is tasked with it? It'll go as poorly as the many failed rebuilds by tanking we've seen around the NHL of late (pre-Shanny Leafs, Avs, Isles, Sabres, pre-McDavid Oilers).

The funny thing with the Galchenyuk fetish is that it's 2 completely different coaches who both saw the same thing, he has moments but he's inconsistent and generally pretty brain dead. Everyone kept arguing, wait till we get a new coach, it's just time to admit he's not even near there yet, he might get there but he's not today. That's Therrien, Julien, hell even the under 23 team didn't want him as a frickin injury replacement.

He's got one heck of a skill set, but no tool box. His game lacks structure, he has no "Init mode" to get back to.

Didn't like him laughing on the bench down 1-0.

Yeah good thing he gets a pass no matter what from like, 75% of the fan base no matter what. Laughing it up on the bench in a playoff game you're losing wouldn't play well for a lot of the other "marquee" players on the team.

lol Galchenyuk looked awful on that second PP. Got the puck in the zone with momentum, stopped up at the halfboards and turned it right over. He started off okay but he's as brain dead as Pacioretty with a ****t ier shot.

He didn't get enough ice on the powerplay whereas Shaw had too much.

Who the **** cares about his all around game when he does one thing that only 2 players on this team does well? Therrien doesn't count as a coach, he will never see an NHL gig again. The u23 team had a plethora of scoring forwards, so that's when you can factor his all around game. If we had a other 30 goal C to make up for Galchenyuks 1 turnover a game, then I'm fine with sending him a message. But never during the playoffs, you treat the playoffs as a brand new season, and you ice the best roster you have.

Refs have been pretty good to us this game. I saw at least 3-4 blatant penalties by Habs players not called. The knee on knee and the head tug by Shaw. Then on the PP, Nash didn't fall by himself.

We were lucky. Players aren't structured as well, too pumped, too anxious. They mostly played the Therrien way by cheating a lot on the zone breakouts. That's not how they should be playing.

If hasn't already been crystal ****ing clear to Bergevin, that first period was lost because of C ...can't win a faceoff to save their lives. on the PP, can't gain possession off these FO losses and that goal with plekanec and gallagher not tying up their men at circle
