Half his points are in one game. I love the guy, but comeon.

He's only been held off the score sheet for just 3 games since the trade, and has more points then Gaborik since the trade (Brassard 9 points in 8 games, Gaborik 7 points) he has been fantastic as a secondary scorer for us.

John Moore Fight vs Jack Skille

Thought some you guys might be interested in seeing this at least. Moore has been fantastic and everyone loves him. Tortorella praised him as being a fast learner and the coaching staff are thrilled at his progress and potential.

As pete posted above, I think he's going to become the most important piece going to NYR in that deal.

I hope so. He's really easy to root for. He's slowly working his way into fan favorite status.

And, for what it's worth, he comes from good people. I had the chance to meet his father twice, (even did shots with him once!), and both times I came away impressed. He looks you in the eye, shakes your hand, and then has a habit of repeating your name so he remembers it.

Brassard's linemates are tons better than Gaborik's, and if you take away the first game he only has 5 points in 7 games. productive yes, but he's not better than Gaborik by himself. you got the better end of the deal but its not a landslide

I understand your excitement, but we are looking at a really small sample size, heck Philly fans are probably happy right now that they traded for Steve Mason. Truth be told, both Brassard, and Mason have talent. Work ethic and toughness are what they lack. Maybe they straighten it out, but I can tell you Most Jacket fans are probably of the mindset that they country club atmosphere was finally dead when these 2 were shipped out. I am sad that we had to part ways with John Moore, although Erixon made John Moore expendable, that, and we have Ryan Murray that is still sitting there as well.

As crazy as it sounds, I actually believe Moore is a better skater than McDonagh who was the best Ranger d-man, skating wise, I have seen since Leetch.

Moore's best quality has always and far-and-away been his skating. He's got one of the smoothest strides I've ever seen and just makes it look totally effortless. Really liked Johnny when he was here; he's an easy kid to root for because of his demeanor as well. Seems like he's picked up in other areas also, as he showed potential here, but never made himself noticeable apart from his skating. I'm definitely pulling for him.

That's really good information. These are the types of character players the Rangers have lacked for a long time. Obviously Callahan is full of character and if Moore is in that same vein he'll have a very respectable career.

Glad to see Columbus with a lot of character guys too. I'm a firm believer that you guys are being built the right way now. Looking forward to the games next season for sure.

Guess what.... a good trade for both teams. :)

If Brass puts it together you'll have a good one. As CBJ fans we have seen the hot, the cold, the disinterested, the energized, the confused.... Maybe with less pressure to be one of the top players in NY he'll become more consistent. Moore is the gem in the deal and Dorse is the glue guy you'll need. Wish them ultimate fail against the CBJ next year though. :D

I was on the fence, concerned that too much was given up for Gaborik. I'm off the fence now. I don't think Gaborik was worth all 3 players.

Kinda agreed. We did sell Dorsett and Moore low, but that's due to circumstances. DD because he's out for the season and Moore due to the logjam down the pipe. More or less the same reason why the Penguins elected to ship Joe M. for Brenden M.

Simultaneously, we also bought Gaborik pretty low. If he scores at the very least at a 30G pace it's a good hockey trade for us.

I said at the time and still think this move is for the now, and we lost out in terms of long term assets and general trade value. It was a deadline day deal and a vote of confidence by Jarmo in this team.

John Moore was low on our depth chart, and Brassard wasn't going to breakout for us, so whatever they do this year is irrelevant.

Gaborik is streaky and does a lot of little things right when he's not shooting. Brassard is all he's going to be. I agree with an earlier poster, Moore could be the best piece in the deal for NYR. I'm comfortable with the trade.

Gaborik is the top line forward that Brassard would never be in Columbus.

It's great he's doing well in New York, but Brassard wasn't producing here and as such had little use to us.

Where was all of this negativity about the trade during the five game winning streak?

Pressured into silence and exiled to the main board.

(Hard to believe I'd take the easy way out instead of standing on my views. Don't worry; it won't happen again.;))

This was a good hockey trade. If the Rangers drop Richards (buyout) and Brass moves up I have to believe the inconsistency will return....

When Gabby pots 30 or so next year, Brassard wakes up, Dorse takes a few dumb penalties and Murray, Erixon & Prout continue to develop the trade will be looked upon favorably.

And if this trade propels the Rangers from 9th place into a deep playoff run, will it still be?

For several months, quite a few people on this board have said that it's better to be able to pick up assets than to embark on a late-season tear that ultimately, in the grand scheme of things, means little. Am I the only one to still hold that opinion?
