20 games in and our $8.25mil perennial Vezina finalist is 5-6-2 with a 3.35 GAA and an .888 Save percentage.

Goalies and their respective salaries who have beaten us, with him in net…

Bobrovsky $10mil
Connor Ingram $1.95mil
Juuse Saaros $7.74mil
Casey DeSmith $1mil
Anthony Stolarz $2.5mil
Linus Ullmark $8.25mil
Jake Oettinger $8.25mil
Elvis Merzlikins $5.4mil

Not trying to put the blame entirely on him. I just think $8+ mil for a goalie is just dumb.

Absolutely. Last year we had elite goaltending and it kept us in almost every game early on, even when the team played poorly. This year Swayman has sucked and while it's not all on him, always falling behind is killing them as they have never played well trying to come back.

Some really weak goals too. That Olivier goal was ridiculous. Low skill player, moving slow, drags it from the side. That should have been an easy easy poke check end of threat.

The team has lost confidence in the goaltending and that's damaged their mindset as well. It's like a house of cards collapsing.

So is he sucking this badly because he never was that good? Did his ego get the better of him and he forget he has to actually work and not just count his cash? Has he cracked under the pressure? Or is he trying to get Sweeney fired as revenge for those nasty comments that hurt his feelings the year before? Who knows, but it's killing the season whatever it is.

Has the tools but probably cracking under the pressure. Wanted it all but didn't pay his dues. Maybe relatable to the story of icarus. Sit him for a week so he can get back to the basics

It's like this. I think Zadorov is grossly overpaid and not worth half of what they gave him. I think they should have spent that money on a top 6 forward instead of a bottom pairing depth player. But even with that all said, I don't blame Zad for taking the dough. I don't hold it against him for signing the contract he got offered. I blame Sweeney.

Your beef shouldn't be with the player and more with the GM for giving out that deal.
You can have a little beef with goalie who is forsaking your teammates for other goalies.

Jeremy Swayman isn’t meeting his lofty standards.

The Bruins All-Star goalie had his second straight rough outing Monday night, giving up three first-period goals and a pair of killer shorthanded strikes in a 5-1 loss to the Blue Jackets at TD Garden.

“I know that a lot of veteran guys that I’ve looked up to and followed have been through the ups and downs and right now I’m in [down] one and I’m going to do whatever I can to get out of it and I know it’s going to be a really good feeling,” said Swayman, who also struggled in a 7-2 loss in Dallas Thursday. “What I can bring to the rink every day, what I can bring from home every day, is going to compound and that’s when things are going to start going the right way and I know how to get out of it and that’s exactly what I’m going to do.”

Swayman, who missed all of training camp as he worked out his eight-year, $66 million contract, didn’t see that as an issue.

“I think I’ve had enough time now to adapt and get back to things. I think the biggest thing that I lost out on was this group and I’m really trying to engulf just being in a room again and being a leader and I want my play to speak for that,” said Swayman, who fell to 5-7-2 on the season. “So, I need to step up and that’s exactly what I’m going to do.”

While Jim Montgomery said, “I don’t think missing training camp helps anyone,” he also didn’t think it was the reason for the Bruins’ struggles.

“I think it’s tough to get the rhythm and the expectation, but by no means do I think today’s [loss] is Jeremy Swayman not having training camp. We’re long into that now.”

It’s always weird to me how teams can treat this like the business it is but if a player does, they’re labeled selfish. Gtfo of here with that nonsense. Swayman negotiated a deal and the Bruins paid it. Their team defense is trash. Their offense is trash. No goalie will fix that.

But even so, give Korpisalo some consecutive starts over the next week or so.

Starting to wonder if the reaction to arbitration was the sign that he had some cracks in his mental game.

Man if Rask was crapped on here, we're about to see a potential all-timer goalie scapegoat for the boards.

He’s so brutal. This is why you don’t pay a goalie the bag for a handful of games, they are a dime a dozen; they get hot and then they disappear. He’s untradable now, it’s going to be a long painful contract.

I think him being untradable is probably a good thing now. He's gotta figure it out. Maybe over years. At least he's living in extreme luxury while he does. But yeah it could be a looooong grind for this kid now.

as I was trying to say all offseason. He had not yet proven himself with the limited resume. was not worth $7M never mind more then $8 years.

One good playoff series against a team that has won one playoff round in the past few decades.

Never had to be the guy with no safety net sitting on the bench to carry the load.

Never played more then 44 games in a season. I was nervous he would burn out not already be burnt out when the season started.

I really hope he snaps out of it because this could ruin the Bruins chances for the next 8 years. I don't want to fall into the dark ages of being a bruins fan again. that was painful for a long time in my youth.

The bad luck too is he's about to turn 26 in a few weeks. So he's a 2/3rd buyout the day that happens. He's only 1/3 now.

That said, NHL expansion has already begun, they're talking 2 more teams. So we'd probably see a compliance buyout window at worst, which means no cap impact to buy out Sway (in the worst case). Just owner dollars burned up.

I mean in a fishbowl like Boston for a player who caused immense drama all summer and alienated so many, who didn't see this coming? A humbling was way overdue. In the end it's on Sweeney caving to that ridiculous campaign by Swayman and his agent. One of the worst ranked goalies so far this year is pretty unreal, heck just give us top 20 this year
