It was in the 80s. Now whenever a team can't win at home, the coaches often talks about doing a "Curre Lundmark". I found an example of it here, where the football team Jönköping södra thought about doing the same.
"Things have been going wrong for Jönköpings Södra at home. Four losses in a row, while the team has won away. A number of years ago, HV71 was in a similar situation. The method back then was to take the bus to the home games.
Tonight Jönköpings Södra meets Hammarby at home. The question is whether it will be a fifth consecutive loss at Stadsparksvallen or if the negative trend will be broken.
In the radio program Lasso, it has been discussed a number of times why it is so difficult for the J-Södra players to win at home. Since they actually win away from home, it may be that it is in their heads. And then perhaps it is time to resort to the same trick that the elite hockey team HV71 did a number of years ago. Then, in the second half of the 80s, it was coach Curt Lundmark who resorted to a new approach. To take the bus to home games as well.
– I sat at home in the chamber and thought, we won away and lost in Rosenlundshallen even though HV71 was known as a good home team and the team was questioned by sponsors, the audience and so on.
After thinking about it, Curt Lundmark went up to the then club manager Denny Ericsson and asked if there was a possibility of renting a bus and going away for a home game.
– He looked at me with wide eyes and wondered "What the.."
The next question from the Småland club manager was how much it would cost, but then Lundmark got what he wanted anyway. He believes that the pressure on the team was reduced away from home and that was the feeling he wanted to get.
Curt Lundmark talks about the importance of the brain for performance for elite-level athletes. And when you take the bus, it means different routines, different talk, different atmosphere - and that can make a difference, according to Lundmark.
– I think the spell was broken."
