Easily and with a wide margin. Find a better one.

BTW a guy who was playing in Chezk2 a year ago is currently the leading keeper in AHL. 91% keeper in Chezk1 last year...

Now 95% in AHL.

Why are you solely going with numbers so early into the season? Makes you look absolutely ridiculous. You probably have seen neither play anyways, not even Shestyorkin.

Not arguing that Shestyorkin wouldn't be the best goaltending prospect, or that Demko is "easily" the best goaltending prospect. Demko's one of the best though, that's for sure. Top ranked goalie in his draft year. Voted best goaltender in the NCAA last season. Nominated for the Hobey Baker last year, along with Vesey and Connor. Both Connor and Demko probably more worthy to win it than Vesey. Demko hasn't disappointed anyone so far in his career. There's no reason to not consider him a top prospect at his position. He have the talent, the reputation and the achievements to back him up being one of the best goaltending prospects.

The issue isn't using the numbers, it's using wrong numbers and terrible context.

In other news Demko's Quality Start streak came to an end last night against. Binghamton. Before the game Demko had a 6-game Quality Start streak. Naturally it wasn't going to go on forever but still an impressive streak. I've said it once and I'll say it again, making the transition to the AHL is not easy for young goalies so the fact that Demko has rebounded into a stretch of 6-games of Quality Starts after a dismal start is very promising.

Nevermind the numbers, we have a real life NHL callup. Hopefully he gets some minutes.

Watched his preseason games and he has many, many technical problems. Surely hope your goalie coach is good.

Bit personal is it?

You can find literally every NHL GAME REPLAY in the internet under 2 minutes. Watch yourself, Demko gets 2 half games in September preseason against EDM and CGY.

KHL GAME REPLAYs you can find in the side bar on the same site. You can even watch these 2 bozos side by side... All this takes shorter time than writing this post.

Holy homer alert. :pcheer::pcheer:

This is guaranteed the consensus best goalie prospect not in NHL. Looking at KHL's vezina this year as 20yo.

I agree that shestyorkin is doing amazing stuff in Petersburg right now, but lets not forget Sorokin won that award last year (with better numbers actually), is the same age as Shestyorkin and has been struggling this year. All of them are still prospects and there are no guarantees especially coming from a goaltenders league into the NHL.

What is this post even supposed to mean? You're not coming out as smart by only bringing up stats, making it sound that the guy posting the best stats are automatically the best goaltender. You're stupid if you honestly believe that. There's so much more to it.

The most technically sound goaltenders aren't always the best goaltenders. There are goaltenders in this league that have their flaws, but they're still good or great.
I remember a guy on youtube a couple of years ago who "worked" as a goaltending coach, and he were constantly ripping on guys like Luongo and Brodeur and the way they handled some situations. So he were basically ripping 2 Hall of Famers, 2 of the best goaltenders in modern era. Even if they weren't the 2 technically best goaltenders, they were still pretty damn good at stopping pucks, which is the most important thing. And Demko is also pretty good at stopping pucks.

Why are you even here?

Every Goalie has technical issues, they aren't robots... You've been in here doing nothing to back up you're reasoning as to why he isn't a terrific prospect. Give up bashing the kid. Take off you're rival glasses and give it up.

As a Wild fan you'd think seeing the development of Dubnyk would make you be a little less vocal about the abilities of a Goaltender. As someone who spends hours training Goalies every single day, Demko is fine technically. You don't dominate every league you have ever played in a side from a 6-game stretch to start his Pro-Career. Is Shestyorkin a better prospect? Maybe, but you're literally nitpicking at the most ridiculous things.

Carey Price put up less than a .900sv% in 10 games AFTER he already played 41 in the NHL... which was worse than Cedrick Desjardins did in 10 games.... It must all be a lie and Price is actually a talentless wizard....

it's funny because you're either so jelly of Demko or you hate the Canucks so much (or both), you made 4 posts in a row to argue. :handclap: Maybe one day you guys will get a goalie prospect as good as Demko ;)

Here's a poll from just a few months ago. Demko isn't the consensus best goalie prospect in the world, but a lot of people think he is.

Cheers bud

Shouldnt be called up. Should be MARINITING in the AHL for this year and next and maybe a call up NEXT year for a backup roll or game or two. Schnieds was slowly developed and look how wonderful it turned out. Bennings gotta learn but dont think he will. Hopefully this isnt too damaging or at all or somehow ends in a positive

A couple pro practices never hurt anyone. I highly doubt the Canucks keep in the NHL to let him sit for three weeks doing absolutely nothing. The org. has its moments but for the most part they seem to trust their goalie coaches.

God I can't believe how dumb the Canucks are. Don't they know that bringing up a player for a cup of coffee stagnates their development by years? This is just such an embarrassment, no other team in the history of sports has EVER brought up a young player to fill a spot for a couple days. We should start writing up Demko's obituary at this point.

Haha very funny i assume this is sarcasm (i hope) im not saying its the dumbest idea this management has done its just they have a record of "accelerating " a players development that turned out to be pretty negative like mccann and virtanen

No it seriously is the dumbest idea Benning has ever come up with. You don't call up prospects from the AHL, for any reason unless you think they're going to have an award season.

He's not getting thrown into the starters position. He probably wont even play a single game and will get sent down in a few days. You need to relax.

No no I totally agree with you, this is a very dumb move for player development. Who in their right mind would call up a young player that's in the AHL? You just don't do that. Look at other top class organizations and when they have an injury, they don't call up young players from the AHL. This move is going to have massive ramifications and ruin the future of the Canucks.

If I want to salvage things, I make sure Demko doesn't get a cup of NHL coffee and gets apple juice, or at worst the exact same cup of AHL coffee. If he drinks a cup of NHL coffee, it'll get in his head that he's better than he actually is and then he'll become a team cancer when he goes back to Utica. Hopefully Demko's confidence doesn't get destroyed because he got called up to the NHL.

When demko turns into schneider 2.0, some of these comments in this thread are gonna be hilarious to look back in the future.

He is literally trending exactly like he did.

Both had **** teams, but struggled early in the AHL, both turned it on and carried their awful teams.

So will he get traded for a top 10 pick once he cements himself as a starting goalie? :sarcasm:

On a serious note, saw he's been doing much better in the AHL recently, so how soon do you think he makes the full time jump to the NHL, next season, or further down the line?

I think he definitely needs two seasons in the AHL. He's an excellent goalie prospect but he does have some technical issues with his positioning and overcommitting on things like wraparounds - by all accounts from Comets fans though, he's already improved a ton technically in just these 3 months in the AHL which is shown by his numbers improving so drastically after the first 4 games. 2018-2019 would be my guess for full time NHLer.

This thread is hilarious to me though. There's people who think he's the greatest goalie prospect in the world and then a random fan or two who just seem to legitimately hate him and think he sucks for no conceivable reason. Settle for the middle ground - a top 5ish goalie prospect in North American right now.
