Murray doesn't have to gain weight, but if he were able to gain some more muscle mass, it'd go a long way in allowing him to be a workhorse goaltender. Some guys are just slender though, and guys like Ryan Miller have been able to play 70 games a year at a high level.

Murray plays the game so incredible cool and collected. Very methodical movements, and very in control. He's fun to watch and has potential to be a really good goaltender.

I jinxed Murray...He allowed 5 goals in the 1st period as Hartford lead 5-1 after 2, WBS come storming back with Jarry in net and lead 6-5 after 2.

Murray was picked as one of the goalies in N-U23's team for the World Cup of Hockey.

20-9-1 in the AHL, 2.10 GAA and .931SV%

2-2-0 in the NHL, 1.98 GAA and .933SV%

Team NA has very capable goaltending with Gibson, Hellebuyck, and Murray.

I'm surprised there's so little talk about this guy. Statistically from a game-by-game viewpoint he's consistently, night after night, having great games in the AHL.

NHL sample size is small but when you watch the guy it's very clear he's got starting goalie (and not just your average one) written all over him.

Crazy that he didn't get picked for a WJC with as much as Canada struggled with goalies. Was it an oversight or did he all of a sudden become good right after being WJC eligible?

Team Canada tends to have their favorites who they take along, regardless if someone comes along who is better or who is playing better at the time of the camp/tournament.

IMO, it's one of the reasons Canada's goaltending has struggled lately. They don't take the best guy available, per se. Just the guys who are already on their radar.

He moves really well for a big man and doesn't get rattled. You'd think he was a #1 in the NHL before and it's just business when you see him in net.

It is a small sample size indeed, but to put up numbers like that behind the defense we have, that's nothing to ignore. Usually back-ups have solid numbers because they don't play that often so if they have a few good games, it can mess with people's idea of how good or bad they really are. I don't see that with Murray, you can see the talent and the potential.

His stats...

1.82GAA, 3-2-0, and a .934SV%.

He's likely to play his fair share of games this month as well.

There's a reason most of us don't want to see Murray traded at all and value him highly, he's the heir apparent to Fleury. He's showing franchise goalie potential.

Murray is my pick for best goalie prospect on the planet, and this is coming from someone whose team boasts Thatcher Demko as their top goalie prospect.

It will be awfully hard for the Pens to walk away from Fleury and the big role he plays in the locker room, but Murray is ready to back up now and will be starter ready no later than the start of the 2017-2018 season, if not sooner.

Oversight. Same with Jarry.

Canada had 'their guys' and stuck with them, even after they didn't look so great at that level. It's one of the big problems with Hockey Canada, they don't tend to take form into naming their rosters. At least not for goaltenders.

Yeah, Canada constantly messes up by taking "their guys" or playing them way more than the better players. It's most evident in net though.
