34/36 or 35/37 (cant remember rn) vs michigan despite all the powerplay time, Buckeyes have a great pk unit which helps him
How's he doing? Getting shelled?
Thanks! Great answerHas been pretty on-and-off to start the year, with some great performances followed by some pretty bad ones so far. Dobes is clearly struggling with consistency to start the year in the AHL.
There are some extenuating circumstances to a certain extent though.
Dobes being a rookie goaltender first doesn't help, neither have Laval's defensemen's NUMEROUS mistakes to start the season. Defensive support from forwards hasn't been good also, overall structure has been poor, and turnovers have killed Laval's momentum time and again.
So yeah, Laval has been quite the rough team to start your pro career with as a goaltender this year.
That said, there have been games where goaltending contributed a lot to losses too, and that blame lies squarely on the goalkeepers' shoulders.
I still think Dobes is better than what he's shown so far. He just needs time, practice, opportunities to work on his confidence in-net, and a team that doesn't play CHL-level defense in front of him.
The golden lining in all of this though is that aside from Norlinder's defensive lapses team structure and defensive play have gotten better after a horrible 1-6-1 start, and Dobes has also begun to play better.
Onward and upwards I guess.
Probably not so great answer upcoming: as of today he is .865 4.42 outplayed by unknown partner .876 3.65 Pretty much same amount of games. Thanks! Great answer
Issue is the followingHow's he doing? Getting shelled?
I think he eventually makes it to NHL. I really believe in him. Like his devlopmental path. I'm not sure where he fits in the Habs pipeline though.. I feel like they may have a drafted stud arriving in the near future?Third time watching Laval this year (twice against Rochester, once against Syracuse) and third time he's been absolutely outstanding for the Rocket. Not just big, but athletic and quick, well positioned... the works. He seems more polished than Primeau at the same age to me. Very under the radar as a possible NHLer IMO.
There is a lot of belief in Jakob Fowler, but goalies are hard to predict. I wouldn't count out Dobes, especially since he is older and will most likely get his opportunity first.I think he eventually makes it to NHL. I really believe in him. Like his devlopmental path.
