I wonder if Dobes ever hangs out with Voracek. It would be pretty cool if they get together occasionally. Ohio State is only 3 or 4 miles from Nationwide Arena.

Thanks for this montreal. Still shaking my head at the Czechs cutting him from the Junior team last year. What a headscratcher! He looks to be in a big queue of Czech goalies doing their best to etch out a spot in North America!

I don't know where I read it but I thought it was more to due with covid and traveling back and forth so he just opted to stay with his USHL club. Either way I have to say I have been so impressed with him at Ohio State, they were picked in the Big 10 preseason poll to finish dead last and while it's still early, he's been a big part of why they have looked as good as they have.

I know there's been a trend of Europeans and Canadians joining the USHL/NCAA these past several years, but is there a specific reason that we know of in Dobes case? Ice time? development choice?

For awhile the CHL banned euro goalies... Not sure if that is still the case though. Goalies take longer so maybe that college route makes the most sense.

his dad I believe was a pro hockey player I believe, maybe he thought bringing him over here would be a better chance? I know his younger brother is at the same USHS team as he was.

gave up 4 goals on 24 shots but I thought it was one of his better games, made some big saves against what could be the best team in the NCAA.
