I know nobody can predict the future, but any chance this guy comes over to NA any earlier? Or is it likely after 2018?

He's under contract until then so I don't think so. In 2018 he will still be just 22 years old. Still young and even younger in terms of goalies.

He looks even better, than Vasilevsky at the same age, so I think we won't have problems with goalies for many years to come. If only our young defensemen become what they're projected to become...

The Iron Curtain has landed in America!!! He is currently at islanders prospect camp. He still as a couple of more years on his KHL deal but it's a great sign that he's here. He stated that he loves it so far and his goal is to play in NHL.

There is only one thing to do in Russia for him, winning the cup. But CSKA might still lose Radulov. And after that chances get slim. My bet is another season in the KHL and next year he will go to the Isles.

Hope you're right. That's when Greiss comes off the books. I'm guessing they'll go with some kind of Halak(if he's still around) and Sorokin tandem, easing him into the NHL game.

I doubt he ever steps foot in the AHL.

What is weird about playing in a better league?

Most people think the KHL is a bad thing and Russian players will never come over. Its good that Sorokin got a little taste of New York this summer. He can go back to Russia and know that the Isles want him is a good feeling. Life is so much better here for sure anyway. Cant wait to see him play.

People in the West are amazing.

Well, believe waht you want to believe. Life is much better in Russia now, but I doubt that's the point for athletes planning a career at this age and earnig the money they are earnig.

I have plenty of friends from the west. Russia is a beautiful country no doubt but I meant the way NHL pampers their players compared to the KHL. Doesn't some of the teams in the KHL have problems paying players?

Most of them have. But they all somehow pay sooner or later. Russia is a rich country, and it has one the most important hockey fan in Kremlin.

Is Ilya Sorokin the next star goalie in the NHL?

By all accounts, the Isles have landed an absolute stud in Sorokin. From what I understand, the Isles are trying hard to get him over but it looks like it's two years away, at a minimum.

But is he the next star goalie in the league? His potential is tremendous. Posted insane stats as a 21 year old in the KHL, took his team to game 7 of the cup. I know that the KHL- NHL relations have improved, so here's to hoping we can see him in the states soon.

Isles luck out with this kid and you can't say there window has opened until this kid gets a shot at the starting role (in my
Opinion).

There is tons of goalies with huge potential.

Saros (Nash)
Demko (Vanc)
Samsonov (Wash)

But he is definitely in the upper echelon like those other guys.

10 shutouts in 23 starts and a .953 save percentage.

Insane. That's about as elite as it gets in that league. He is growing into a monster. 10 shutouts in 23 starts. I mean that's seriously impressive to me.

Let's slow down a bit. Kid has the makings of an absolute stud but goalies are fragile creatures. Also, very hard to predict. Let's let the kid continues to develop and hopefully he's the real deal. He's still only 20.

He is the most promising goalie prospect we have had since DiPietro and Luongo.

Impressive, but he played for the dominant KHL team, and the K doesn't have much parity.

He was 20, and the last year of his contract can be bought out.
