Take out Game 1 against TB where he was blown out, and his sv % was .912 the rest of the way. That should have been enough to hold the fort....but the Leafs scored 2 goals in each of their final 7 games of the playoffs.

It was the offense that let them down again.
Stopped calling PPs did not help.

We can mostly if not fully bury that deal if needed

The bigger issue is that Matt Murray needs to be bought out because our previous GM picked up a goalie from the glue factory with a 4.6 mil a year cap hit
There are at least 8 players signed for next season that are not part of the future. Some signed by Dubas and some signed by Treliving. They must ice a team but some of the moves are insanely bad.

He will be in the opening lineup
We needed some players with character and snarl .
This guy hurts players when he hits you
The next time one of our players gets manhandled , maybe we won't stand around and do nothing.
I for one am very glad we picked him up

We won't be a boring team anymore with
Bert domi and reeves
Ryan Reaves was my favourite player, but he doesn’t and can’t do any of that anymore. They shouldn’t have accepted a call from his agent let alone sign him.

There has to be a big salary move coming or they’ll needlessly lose assets

I think Jamcrock gets traded
Maybe Lafferty gets traded as well
Unless he plays on the top line doesn't really add much.

I have to appreciate it when the arbitrator just averages each side's ask and moves it a few percent either way to make it look like they did some serious adjudicating.
I'm appreciative of NHL arbitration not requiring the choosing of one side's number or the other (as it works in MLB, IIRC). Mind you, I'd also have expected the Leafs to come in at an offer higher than 2.4M and Samsonov's counter offer to have been lower than 4.9M if the process worked that way in the NHL.

No shortage of guys they should move but are there any takers? Could explain why he got himself in this pickle.

Giving a 35 yo player who won't make our roster come playoff time a $1.35mil x 3 is looking even worse.

I've seen people say we can't LTIR Murray... where does it say this? It's been done many times.

Maybe we don't get the full benefit or something, but we can definitely put him on LTIR if he is injured.

The issue is whether or not Murray is actually injured. The best empirical evidence we have at this time is that he is healthy.

Pretty good result for the Leafs. Best thing is it should leave them able to manage a $600k buyout cap hit for Murray this season. Whereas if Samsonov had gotten ~$4m that buyout $600k could be more problematic in finalizing the roster.

I think this is where it may get sticky. I read somewhere that if Murray is actually injured, he cannot be bought out. You can't buy out an injured player.. He could claim he is injured and buyout goes bye bye. I did find it a bit odd that for the last game against florida when sammy was hurt, woll started and Murray was the backup. So he was injured all through the playoffs, but he was cleared and healthy enough to be backup. If he was actually truly healthy was it even considered to start him? Does the fact he was cleared to be the backup that final game guarantee that he can't now claim to be injured, and therefore can actually be bought out? If he is injured and can't be bought out, it would also make trading him to a third party with a trinket so they can buy him out not work either.

Honest questions, I do not know how that all works.

How does a guy taking up 1.6% of our roster getting the blame for all this? The cap structure of this team has been bad for a while. It’s not the reaves contract why our cap situation is messy.
Every little bit helps and I still don't understand why Reaves was signed to begin with? Is a guy like him really that necessary to the team and worst of all why 3 YEARS?? Even if you really wanted him could we not have simply signed him to a one year instead so that if he doesn't work out he can be gone by the end of the season?

If the team were able to put him on LTIR, they would need the cap space to reactivate him.

He might get traded. Whichever costs the Leafs less.
Buy him out. You lose 2 million in cap space next year which means you tell the greedy F#*^s that 13+ million per season and anything above 9.25 is completely off the table….so how much do you really want to play here?

Good with the settled Samsonov contract, term and $ amount.

Let’s see who proves to be the #1 between Woll and Sam.

Dubas must be visualizing a goalie tandem dream team of Jarry and Murray. Make us an offer Kyle! 👍🏻
